It depends on which terminal you are out of for us. Some terminals hardly haul class 8. They usually have the cheap ones. My terminal only hauls class 8 (except for me, I'm the only OTR guy) and we have to load and unload ourselves, so we have to put them on twice a day. We have the good red ones at ours.

they appear on ebay some times for a decent price. i was going to buy a set for myself but i decided to take a local non-tanker job instead. just need to check the ansell website, they don't provide protection for everything.

BullJockey, you'll love pulling a tanker. Chemicals pay more than foodgrade commodities. I went and dug up a few links for you, hopefully they'll help you out. Good luck.

Altom has terminals in Indy, Hammond, and Chicago.

Also, Chemtrade has a plant in Indy that produces chemicals for water treatment plants. You might check with them to see if they have any local or regional openings.

Just an update, been doing a lot of company research and still not decided where I want to go, I'm def leaning toward fuel/propane work, I have a cpl apps out so we'll see who takes the bate, I also took a look at Miller Transporters.....I think from I've seen and read fuel (bulk storage not mini marts or gas station work) is my cup of tea with maybe large retailers; Pilot/Loves etc being an exception!
Anyone that cares to chime in is more that welcome! My hats off to all of you that do this work daily as I hope, in the very near future, to become a contributing partner for the cause!!

Gas station unloads are easy after you get the hang of it. Open the valves and let it run in the ground. Faster than a pump

    BullJockey Thanks this.

Well I've decided to go with Kenan (Klemm) out of their Vincennes Indiana terminal, I have a face to face meeting with their terminal manager Monday, will let y'all know how it goes, hope it was the right decision! If I gain nothing else I'll get a good feeling for fuel hauling and tanks in general!

I do not know what type of operation they run but I have found with many companies the tanker company have a better chance of advancement There's not too many people that I have talked to that will say they would rather go back to box OTR than onward with tankers. Once you're on tankers you stay. I believe you'll like it.
