Don't forget Walpole, Dillon, Justin Davis, B-Line Carriers just to name a few. Do you have an idea of a location you'll be headed to? There's a lot of little pockets in Florida where the work is at, you have to be careful not to move to a dead zone because you will never find work, and if you do, it will be offered at 10 dollars an hour.

Tampa Craigslist has been swamped with jobs wanting tanker yankers, check it out. I gave up my tanker and hazmat when people stopped paying more for that, before I made great money but stopped.

So wherer are the dead zones? I am currently scoping out FL I am tired of the dead economy in Maine Where should I avoid? Looking into Ocala Plant city and the Tampa area. Thanks in advance
-
Those are 3 good areas, Dillon hires out of Ocala and Tampa, and Plant City which is in Polk county has a good base of employment. I like Ocala quite a bit, but Tampa and Plant City probably offer more opportunities for drivers. I'm from Brooksville and that's one of the areas where I would label it as a dead zone, there's just no jobs there. My wife and I are trying to get moved back to Florida but we can't figure out where we want to be, we would like to be back home again (Brooksville) but things have just changed so much down there.
Jacksonville is still pretty good for trucking jobs too, and it's close to all the beaches and activities.aiwiron Thanks this. -
Here is the recent link to the craigslist for Tampa, I have no clue on the companies.

CTL has laid off some of the day cab drivers.Last time I was in Mulberry talked to a driver and was told they lost a few contracts with the mines. They are still doing a lot of OTR and gave Co.drivers a raise back in Oct. They like for OTR drivers to stay out for at least 2 weeks. I know they use O/O don't know about pay. -
Yes they lost the Mosaic contract. March 1st Dillon Transportation takes over which actually had a higher bid if that tells you anything. Dec 27th I got a WARN Act letter along with 83 others stating we'd all be unemployed in March.
No this did not effect OTR drivers but to my understanding CTL hasn't had O/O for a long time now.
Pay here is terrible in comparison to other companies but I signed on for the hazmat/tanker experience. Hoping to haul black gold soon! -
I don't understand why Dillon won't just pick up the CTL drivers. When I worked for Pritchett we got a trash haul from 3 separate locations in the panhandle of Florida and we hired on every driver that met our qualifications and wanted to work for us. That seems to be the right thing to do in my opinion.

To take over the Mosaic acct I heard they need 100 drivers. Many CTL drivers are allready there. Unfortunately for me they want 12 months experience and I have only 2. I've also heard pay at Dillon is almost double what CTL pays. I'm trying to get in the oil fields right now.
