I'm considering a change, mainly because I'm posting this from the middle of BF nowhere when I'm supposed to be home...AGAIN.
I've talked with a couple of Oakley drivers who seem really happy there('course, whenever a company pays recruitment bonuses, you kinda have to raise an eyebrow), and one on the CB who said, "Eh, it's a company, they're all alike." Think that third guy was just burnt out. Not exactly a hearty endorsement, but at least he wasn't hollering about how he's quitting tomorrow and they can stuff this truck in...um, yeah.
So anyway, who knows anything about these folks? Great, sucks, or "just another company?"Bear in mind, I know they're food grade, I know where they're based out of, and all that. I'm just looking for the Inside Scoop.
Tanker Yankers: Any info on Oakley Trans?

I only know 1 guy that ever worked for them ..he was layed off from Slay and went there for a couple months said pay was real low...equipment average....for every good mileage run they had him doing a couple of local runs...he quit and started hauling LNG till he got called back to Slay....but everybody has different opinions and expectations...

i was there for five an a half yrs.it didnt get bad until the old man mr. oakley passed away. i thought i would never leave. they took away the retention bonus then froze our pay.we had a yard in memphis with its own tank wash but now i think they have a fenced in dirt lot by the petro. since they only haul scrap now from cargil there is no reason for a yard. they bought new trucks an trlrs that are heavier than the old ones an cant carry the weight the contracts call for. so now they want you to go into cargil with a quarter tank of fuel so you can get 48,000 like the contract calls for.you should have seen them standing in front of the shop. craig stevens an tommy oakley looking at the new truck an trailer that nobody bothered to fill with fuel an get an empty weight to see how much they could haul.now the southeast div. is hauling box trlrs because they have lost cargil in charlotte an fayetteville an the sugar plant in savannah cant put out enough loads for the drivers. i dont know if they have lost fuji in savannah yet? they run vopak loads from savannah to charlotte cargil sometimes an you will sit up there anywhere from 8 to 10 hrs past your appt. an randy will tell you cargil doesnt pay detention. but to him nobody does. i left before they started pulling vans. but i would say that a tanker company pulling vans means they lost a lot of customers or Prime has finally got some stake in the company? who knows maybe they will be pulling flatbeds soon?
MoneyCat Thanks this.
