I started off doing tanker right out of cdl school. Small outfit 12 trucks and growing. I'm gonna say the same thing everyone else has just in different words. Respect the load and type of work you're doing. Use common sense at all times, and if you have a question call your superior. You'll be fine and the pay is better as well.

Called Schneider today & the recruiter said that the Tanker position I'm interested in which is Regional out of Baton Rouge, La (my hometown) 5 days out home on weekends for 34-48 hour restart, is getting a raise in May 22 from 35cpm to 40cpm. There is a $1500 sign on bonus. What do you guys think?

From what I read here, their training program is pretty good and that's as good a place as any to get your feet wet. If they're willing to accept your application and bring you on I'd say go for it. Just read all the fine print before you make the decision to make sure there isn't any bs in your employee contract. Once you get the experience you could either advance with Schneider or move to a better paying gig. Good luck Thull

First driving job was pulling smooth bore tanks.
Go for it, no reason you can’t pull a tanker for your first job.
people have a tendency to make stuff sound way more scary or bad ### than it really is around here. It will take you all of 5 minutes to learn not to stomp the brakes and accelerate smoothly.MYSTYKRACER Thanks this.
