That is what the website says. There are however numerous drivers on this board who started with them right out of truck driving school, myself included. They turn down thousands of applications a year. If they advertised the fact that they occasionally take a driving school rookie they would be overrun with applications simply because the pay is so much better. You start out at .46 loaded, .36 empty.

Do Schnei-tanker for a couple of years, Houston yard and traffic sucks, but you'll get used to it....then do OTR/Teams for one year....then you'll be experienced enough to come home and get in with a good local company.

Why would a year OTR/Team be necessary for local work after a year pulling tank ? Makes no sense .

Ricks right. If you get some time in, even if it's 6months to a yr regional it may be enough depending on where you trying to go. And I know for certain, Schneider runs alot of day cabs just to get loaded for the otr o/o and teams. If you live close to a terminal you would have plenty of choices.

    Twicebit Thanks this.

This is correct. We do run lots of day cabs. We have some in Cali but for the life of me I can't remember where they are based. I talked with one of them about a year ago, I think it was somewhere around San Diego. I wish we would run more locals to just load but don't be fooled. If your local at least at Schneider you are going to unload more than any OTR guy. I am up here in Jersey and these local guys unload two or three times a day. Or so they tell me. Every time I go to a consignee that's around an OC the local guys seem to know the employees there so I bet they are telling the truth.
I don't think I would run local for Schneider. That is me of course.

Can't believe I just now ran into this thread. VERY informative.... The only thing I missed (and I just read the entire thread) was what the pay is for new hires at Schneider (pulling tanks)

Yeah Ethos, I loved the loads to Texas. They were always preloaded. And if you are comeback for time off, you usually dropped it for somebody else to unload. But what's sweet is the major companies, pull in, get out, don't touch nothing, go sit in the break room until we call you, AND YOU STILL GET UNLOAD PAY.

I'm certainly not very knowledgeable about Schneider, but I believe ethos told me that its $.38 per mile for new hires pulling tanks, with experience. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.
