I see on Melton's web site that they pay $40 each time that you tarp a load. I was wondering how many times per week on average do you usually tarp a load. I was also wondering if they pay another $40 when you take the tarp off the load. Thanks for any help.

You get 20 to tarp and 20 to untarp. 80% of loads are tarped.
-
i dont work for them, but usually you only get paid to tarp....and it depends on what they haul as to how much you will tarp...
-
Does Melton usually have longer loads per week or shorter ones?
-
Loads vary. Average load I'd say is probably 600-1000 miles.

Oh ok thanks alot. I'm trying to decide if i would make more with flat bed or reefer.
-
good and bad for both....tarping and untarping in the winter bites.....
truckon Thanks this. -
If you don't mind sweating and working in the sun, wind, rain, snow, etc..then definitely flatbed. If you don't mind sitting for hours on end at a walmart DC while they unload you, count, quality check, reject your freight, then take up reefer....
I think flatbed works out to pay a little more as well.
If you'd like, I can set you up with a recruiter to help you make your decision.lol
hismith Thanks this. -
