I agree also with this thread! Try the showers at the TA in New Braunfels, Texas. Its just north of San Antonio. The shower was identical to the OP about Denton. You walk in and find everything in a fancy basket (towel, cloth, cloth bathmat) along with 2 cups and a couple mints. There was also flowers on the counter. Towels were orangish colored and room was beige/tan/sandy colored. I don't use TA's much being a company driver we fuel at Pilot's and Love's mainly. Every now an then I get Emergency Fuel at a TA/Petro. We use the TA's for service work though if not near a company shop. I paid $10 at the kiosk that night for a shower in New Braunfels, TX and it as worth it. Did not leave a tip and probably should have but at least I paid cash and didnt use my reward card.
Just not having to ask for an extra towel (that previously may or may not have had nap left to it) is a great thing...but TA really has stepped it up. I called them earlier on their customer service line and gave a verbal high-five.
the AI at the Pilot in East St. Louis, IL is up and running as well, i wonder whats going on, I thought they went out of bissness... American Trucker
I had a voicemail a few weeks ago from IdleAire that they are back up and running in select cities. I would imagine with the Dallas idling regulations they should at least be running there but who knows.
IdleAir (no "e" in this reincarnation) got some new investment money through the bankruptcy court. So the bad business idea that wouldn't die is resurrected. The parking nazis are back in business - for now. Whatcha think? 18 months before they go belly up again?
I was talking about that stop with a friend of mine. He said that the guy that owns Blue Beacon had that as a franchise from Petro, and I'm assuming that the franchise fees have gone up with the TA purchase of Petro, and he decided to take it independent. Somewhat like those 4 former Petro, current Flying J's on the east coast did.
I love the showers at the T/A in Ontario, CA. I'm not thrilled with the $10 shower/ $20 parking fee, but I still plan on coming back here when I'm officially on the road just because the showers were so nice. Same orangish towels (two), washcloth, soap, cup, and mint. I haven't seen a dirty one yet and I've always found the staff to be exceptional. Okay, stoopid noob question: how much do you tip for showers?
Iam use everytime ta/petro 1.ta/petro .2 loves after nothing. My fuel only ta and petro last year i have more then 44000 points for my card, free showers free parking and more.the showers were good ,space 2 towels and shampoo.
My company uses Petro/TA and Loves for fuel stops. My procedure is to fuel exclusively at Loves until I reach 1000 gallons for the month. That provides unlimited free showers and coffee/soft drinks for the next month. That usually leaves me about a week to fuel at TA/Petro and enjoy those showers. I wish Loves would upgrade the shower heads away from those low flow water savers pieces of crap. Its nice to have a no fuel option for a free shower though. I have also given away a few free showers to drivers in the process of paying for one. Last time was during a blizzard. Poor guy had just stopped after fighting it for who knows how long. He had his money out ready to pay when I jumped up there with my card. He just looked at me and said "Thats the only good thing that has happened to me all week"
