The gloves, boots, etc is deductible ig it totals more than a certain dollar amount or % of income. I'm remembering something like $750 or 2% of income. And being able to deduct something from taxes is not getting it free, but buying it on sale. If your taxed at 25% and the items are deductible and exceed the threshold. You get those items 25% off.

What they can deduct depends on what they do. Normal items no, unless you require it for your job. IE - steel toe boots, etc.

If you have unreimbursed expenses related to your job, get tips on how to get the tax write-offs you deserve.

Again,,, the company will only keep the last 6 months and 13 days worth. If you don't keep a copy of your logs, then no one will for you. If you change companies, your prior company is not required to provide you logs.

Something to mull over, the IRS is going to love elogs, I fully expect in the next few years, truckers to be the primary target of the IRS. Since there will no longer be hard copies of logs, we'll all be back to the old "paper bag full of receipts" routine to prove deductions and proof at time of audit.

Email it to yourself and save as a PDF. Since the requirement of an ELD for an inspection you should be able to Email your logs to the inspector

Who as room on their computer for several years worth of log book PDF files, not to mention, what percentage of drivers are actually going to know how to do it.

I have room, I go to Qualcomm’s website and download and save my logs.

If I get audited I want and need to have proof of that deduction.

    What’s your plan?
Pray somebody saved a copy for you?

Odds are we won’t get audited, but I’m adult enough to be an adult about it.
