I have enjoyed living and working in "tax free" NH. If I take an OTR job as a company driver (W2 wage earnings) and the company is incorporated in a state that has a state income tax, will I have state taxes withheld, and will I have pay to state income tax with that state. Example, my friends that live in NH and work in Maine or Massachusetts pay state income taxes because they work there.

    Just wondering...

In OTR you pay taxes in the state where you live.

In the case where you live in NH and work in Maine, that is another type of issue.

99% of the time, the company will take into consideration where you LIVE to decide if state income tax is deducted from your check. In your case, no state tax would be deducted.
However, sometimes the payroll dept. has their head up you know where and the tax is deducted. In that case you would have to file a state income tax form for the state the tax was deducted for and receive a refund.
If you don't live in a tax state, you do not have to pay their state income tax.

    McQ Thanks this.
