Truckload Carriers Association. A group of companies that pat themselves on their back and tell each other how great they are.

At least you were able to talk to them about it and got to go home after some haggling. My company would never even ask me if I wanted off on a holiday. If there is a screw up we just have to sit and "take one for the team " and we usually get paid a hundred bucks a day for the trouble .

“Take one for the team” what a wore out and abused statement that was ever created.

With all that said -- call me crazy -- but I personally remain unconvinced that the "Best Fleets to Drive For" list is completely useless.

Some of the carriers on that list do seem to be doing better than average, at the very least.

An easy example: FCC. The FCC thread here on the Forum shows very little if any real discontent amongst the FCC participants.

They seem to be pretty happy campers...for the most part.

Why not just go home normally and then take the extra day? MVT asked me that, and just let me stay home an extra day. My current company asked if we wanted July 4th off. If we did, we had to take 2 paid time off days (Monday AND Tuesday). If we chose to work a full week, they'd give us a free floating holiday. I always work the 4th if it isn't on a weekend or adjoining day, so I took option 2.

    Your dispatch is being evil.

Why are they on the list? They pay for it. Technically, it's part of the recruiting budget, so also a tax write-off. Never have I seen Fast Eddie and Joe's Awesome Cartage Company 3 truck fleet on these lists.
