Some states are really strict about that and want to see electric bills, etc. Maybe SC is easy.
Have any companies in mind right now?
Many Americans living in Ecuador from what I understand.

You're right, I hadn't thought about that. I obviously won't be able to produce any type of utility bill, having lived here for 3+ years. My first choice is Wil-Trans, I've seen nothing but positive reviews of them, but they have a problem with my lack of car insurance for the past three years... their insurance carrier requires proof of insurance for previous three years, which I don't have, living in Ecuador. I don't have a number two... I've seen encouraging posts about Maverick on here. That's the thing with the internet, I can continue reading all day/night and will continue to find good things and bad things about nearly every company, it seems. I do have time on my side; I will be returning to the U.S. in mid-March. I do know whereever I end up, I'll be paying my dues and that's fine with me.

Yes, the city I live in, Cuenca, stays near the top of the 'best places to retire' lists... the city is beautiful, four rivers running through the city, cost of living is dirt cheap, housing is inexpensive.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Many drivers on here lived overseas for many years and had no problem getting started.
As for utility bills, I meant from the address you will use in the USA.
For example some states want 3 pieces of mail sent to you, utility bills, lease agreement, etc. if you plan to change your license from VA to SC or some other state. In other words, they want proof your domicile is SC. Not all states are this strict.
Trucking companies with their own cdl schools; you graduate from that school and get a cdl from that state; then you return to your home state and switch it over.
Some drivers download a simple lease/rent agreement and use a relatives address. On the agreement is states that utilities are furnished. Maybe it shows they just rent a room in the house.
They don't actually live there, just use that to change their drivers license.

Maybe that guy at the school in SC has some deal he uses for students.
