Teacher Posts Salary on Facebook, Asks Why She's Paid so Little Even With a College Degree

That sounds like a winner. I don't understand why so many Americans this system.

It's not really free per se. Everyone would contribute to it. It would just be less of a burden on everyone. I do agree many of us could make better choices, but food isn't the only thing that causes illnesses. The reality is, people age and things start happening to them. What about allergy season? The seasons change, and people get bad allergies. Others catch colds from other people, it's not everything one can prevent from happening. This country just had a big flu epidemic. How do you prevent that?

 

I was gonna say a lot of what you just said. Most folks have no clue how much time an educator actually devotes to the job. Classroom time is just a small part of it. It’s definitely not a job you can leave behind when the bell rings.

Same with the money. I hate to think what percentage of my wife’s salary is returned to the classroom. We still pay on her student loans, and we are both in our mid 40’s. We live in Oklahoma, ranked 50th in teacher pay among the states.

Dealing with troubled students and/or angry parents is just another part that most don’t think about. The stress of this job is tremendous. Keeps her up a lot of nights.

There’s a lot of ways to look at things like this, and I respect all opinions, and here’s mine:

We’ve all been given desires and gifts. We all have what we want to do and what we are good at. We can excel at those things and the world can be a better place because of it. I thank the good Lord that we have firemen/police/teachers that are willing to give their lives for barely liveable wages, and would gladly pay a few more dollars in taxes so that we can raise the pay for folks that do the jobs that the rest of us are not willing to do.

 

Here is the real solution to healthcare..
Eliminate all health insurance companies.
Everybody must pay for healthcare out of their own pockets 100%.
Then doctors,hospitals and drug companies must price their products and services according to what people are actually able to pay and not this huge pool of money the insurance companies have.
Prices would drop tremendously.

Nothing should be free...somebody has to pay.
As with everything else in life..if you can't pay for it you can't have it.

 

You folks that keep saying how great their system is are not living under it. The beauty of this country was supposed to be free of communal burdens and we need to return to that before we become the next Greece.

There are plenty of cradle to grave countries for you to go live in.

 

You can. Either donate stuff to the school thereby freeing up money for other things, or just add in on your property tax. They will take the check.
