I'm not saying we should ignore illnesses and injuries, or that we shouldn't treat problems. What I'm saying is we should focus more on prevention of illness, rather than playing catch-up after it becomes serious. Doing that alone could save a ton of money.
I wouldn't be opposed to universal health care, but the hacks in Washington would find a way to screw it all up. We'd be paying for everything but health care when they're done. And let's not forget the ones who abuse the system, like they are doing now.
For as much as I hated Obama as president, I think he was on the right track with health care. He put forth some good ideas. But for every good idea, there were two really bad ideas to go with it. The whole ACA became a disaster once Congress got involved. And that's really sad when you think about it.

Universal healthcare wouldn't affect your freedom brother. You just think it would.TruckChicken Thanks this.

That's just it. Preventative maintenance. Much like how we treat our trucks out here. If there was universal healthcare, people could get regular checkups, and maybe catch catastrophes ahead of time. That to me is one of the biggest benefits of universal healthcare

How's that

You made a portion of your idea based on income, buy what you can afford. Obamacare is income based.
-
Our income tax pays the brunt of the cost so you need a gov't who can direct those tax dollars to the health care system and not to their own special interests. I see folks in your system going thousands of dollars in debt to cover surgery/ medical expenses...that's tragic JMHOVIDEODROME Thanks this.

You missed the point..
Obamacare deals with insurance premiums.
My idea affects product/service price -
People say to 'Just move to Canada'. Is that kind of immigration even that simple?
It isn't really that free. Many inmates can wind up accumulating debt from fees relating to the prison stay. Some places even have Pay-To-Stay policies. This is why ex-cons may flee in fear from police risking their life rather than going back.

While it's true Prisoners have a very small Copay for their healthcare, it comes out of their general commissary fund which takes a big hit when you only earn 4 cents per hour.bryan21384 and mjd4277 Thank this. -
I found a lot of teachers just used the classroom to push their ideals onto everyone else. In the time I spent as a student in the school system I'd say about a quarter of my teachers actually had a passion for the job and really went above and beyond for their students.
Dan.S Thanks this. -
Ok your idea isn't a bad one.....but why not go full blown universal and get good prices and service?
