So I have some questions about team drivers, if there is another thread and someone wants to point me, thank you in advance, if not any help would be fantastic.
First, I have recently retired and have a nice pension but looking to do something that will allow me to invest my pension or save it so I can retire really nice. So I'm looking at truck driving along with my 3 year GF. So a few questions, that I can't seem to find on the internet (or maybe just searching wrong) is.
1- Team Drivers, how long do they stay out away from home? I'm talking about Regional and OTR.
2- The 34 hours every 7-8 days does that include team drivers? And if so what do you all do during this time?
3- Married couples do you all see this as viable together, I know being in close proximity together so long can be a challenge, but what are some other challenges you all face. Has intimacy been a problem, etc.
Thanks up front. Please be safe out there.

Every driver needs a 34hr reset.
My wife is the only person I could team with. It depends on each individual and their upbringing. Most women these days I don't think are cut out for living in a truck. Too much princess syndrome going on in first world countries. Going to be a rude awakening for lots of them. The term 'old maid' comes to mind. -

Team driving is tough. Did it my first year.
We usually stayed out 4 or 5 weeks.
Good Luck - -
Team driving (the truck be rolling 24/7, mostly) will wear on you. You, the drivers, have to be flexable. Truck be rolling 1000 mi/day. Sleeping on those nasty interstate highways rolling at 70 mph. Can't get a shower, decent meal today. A well oiled team truck can run 24k mi/month. I've run team and with the right freight haul, we were park nightly for 4 hours. So truck was running 20 hours/day. I could shower at a fuel stop the time it took my co-pilot to fuel. We had set hours to drive. Only woke the other driver if absolutely necessary. Fresno to Atlanta, 54 hours. Then turn it, drop/hook, fuel it and back in Fresno 54 hours later ! Will work with GF, assuming there's lotsa love ! Go for it.
Seth0194 and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -

Rolled across Indiana Sunday..it’s bad as always and all I could do was count the miles until I reached Ohio.
Seems the whole state is a construction zone with no one ever working in them.
Probably no money left after paying rent on the Barrelsinsipidtoast, austinmike and BennysPennys Thank this.
