Team Loads

Hubby and I drive team. On a non-stop run in a truck governed at 62mph, we can do 1400mi in a 24hr period. But that means we only stop for fuel (grab food to-go) and a couple of QUICK bathroom stops (rest areas only to avoid the hassle at the T/S). Realistically, to keep from burning out, we typically drive 8 hrs each and stop for 8hrs. We average about 900mi per day.

 

Team with the old man; like trkrshoney said we stop at rest areas to avoid the hassle at truck stops, we packfood in our refrigerator and stop for fuel and bathroom brakes to stretch our legs and what not. While I drive, he sleeps. Wwhile he drives I sleep.I do my 11 hrs and than we switch. Usually get just under 1300 miles together,a day. Coast to coast. Its fun, especially cuz we get along all the time!

 

I think what the OP was asking is if it is viable to work the load boards as a team and still make a profit while both drivers are earning money, or are team loads generally more for customers who have a contract set up to get a load delivered a far distance away as quickly as possible?

If this is not what the OP meant then I would still like to know anyhow.

 

Not sure if the brokers comply, I think it would be mainly up to the receiver, I am sure some would, some won't, etc, but is it possible to work the load boards as a team, absolutely, I've called on quite a few that have requested team service...

 

Talk to your broker,they love teams(means hot loads deliver fast)they will keep u moving,means more money.

 

This is a very vague question... Umm yes you can run teams and turn a profit. Having a team is what might give you the advantage over dozens of other carriers looking at the same load. Just make sure you keep that team running otherwise you will have 2 very upset drivers.
