Thank you, we have our moments:biggrin_25519:
We first talked to Sage and we just were a bit put off by the recruiter. She came across as a used car salesman. That and it was an extra 40 miles each way to school made the difference. I know a number of people who were happy with Sage. We were very happy with USTDS. We were very ready to test for our CDL in three weeks and they have their own very large yard for all the backing practice you want. Sage pushes the one on one driving but I learned a lot watching other drivers in the truck. I am pretty sure the placement coordinator gets a bonus from Swift if you go with them as she pushes Swift VERY hard. Just do your own research and she will help you get placed where you want if you be assertive.

well after a month of training and three weeks on my own i finally made it home for four long days of recovery.
I wanted to be home by a certain date ,but of course that did not happen. I ended up home two days late and I tell you that was a challenge in it's self.
Usxpress kept sending me the wrong way , then a small breakdown I finally got to Massachusetts to unload on Monday, but had to get permission to leave the trailer at the receivers and bob tail home 120 miles and yes had to get permission for that as well.
What a pain it was , at times I wonder why the heck i got into this job , but I will hang in there and see. Over the road sucks I had ran out of hours on a mountain top , had to find somewhere to park for ten hours , then they kept giving me loads that where already late from the get go. they need to be organized better not the dispatcher but the load planers. All and all I guess it went well. nice to be home.

They said Dalton, so I'm assuming it's Tunnel Hill.

I really enjoyed reading about your story on your great adventure blog. Very truthful, but very inspiring! How much have you averaged per week with you and you wife teaming for usx in terms of pay? Seems like you are kept very busy with miles. I am looking at USX and Schneider after we go to school. Any help would be appreciated!:biggrin_25520:

Not something I really want to be specific about on a public forum. Let me just say that going in my miniumum target was an annual gross of about $80,000 first year but based on recent numbers, we will do much better than that. Much, much better.

    Wedge Thanks this.

I understand completely about specifics. Forgive my curiosity as I am very excited to go well over the 55,000 combined income my wife and I make that will never let us have a family let alone give us the financial freedom we crave. It gives us so much hope for our future to hear something real from real people!

I haven't seriously considered Sage just because their website sucks! I want as much info as possible before wasting my time on the phone with a sales person. And I completely agree with the 80mi round trip being an extra negative. CDL College in Aurora looks good on their website http://cdlcollege.com/careers.php They list prices, look flexible,PTDI certified(?), didn't pitch too hard when I called- just a friendly invite to 'come on down' for a look see. I haven't called USTDS yet, but they're my first choice just because of proximity and WIA eligibility. And like you I would actually rather be learning from another student's mistakes, AS WELL AS my own.
    Thanks for the reply!
