HA! You say this as we sit at Fedex in Mira Loma CA waiting on a service truck to fix our marker lights and replace a bald tire on the trailer. It is amazing to me how many drivers skip the pre-trip. This tire has been bad for a while.

What gets me NoCoCraig, is that companies don't do anything about it... When I drove for SNI this kind of thing happened alot, pick up a trailer and find it is not road worthy. SNI did nothing about it, or at least that I knew about...

how about when you pick up a trailer and the annual dot EXPIRED 22 months ago, had it happen last dec IN the ellenwood yard..! went into the shop and wrote it up then went looking for another mt.

as i was standing at outbound talking to them i see this daycab comming up to the gate to leave with the same trailer i just (20 min ago) wrote up, i walked over to him and said "you know the dot on that trailer is expired....?", he asked me how i could tell if it was expired, so i showed him the sticker 2/2008... da. he took it back

he realy didn't know to check it.....

OK, new update on the new team bonus. It turns out there are a bunch of different bonus programs and they are not good at explaining them and recruiting does not understand them. I just got off a conference call where we got our bonus situation all straightened out. For a new team without experience with hazmat endorsement (that was us) The total bonus was correct $2,500 each, but the payment plan was wrong. You get $500 each when you deliver your first load, $500 at 6 months, $750 at the end of 9 months and $750 at the end of a year. This is from when you actually become a team after training.

If you are two solo drivers who team up the bonus is $2,000 each paid at $500 a quarter for a year.

I shall speak for you then, Craig...LOL

I do believe the bonus for being Solo is being able to plan your day pretty much how you want and you don't have to run 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.......that is why I love being a Solo driver............LOL

I was just running around the USX site and found that there might be a bonus for solo drivers......It says "When available" and it might just apply to people who have been driving for awhile........call 877-823-9223 and ask.

Bald Tire?!! Do you mean to say that you had less than 2/32" tread? Oh the shame! (just made a 99% on my pretrip test...of all things, I missed 1 point because I completely overlooked the landing gear) Our instructor will never let me live this down. He keeps telling my husband all our trailers will be missing the Landing Gear! LOL! I agree about the pre-trip...According to both of our instructors who are both seasoned drivers, now teaching...they informed us that many of the old timers disregard the pre-trip. I just could not do this. It would be like taking my grandson on a trip in my car without making sure it was road worthy. I am glad with the new CSA regulations, this will really put emphasis on making the roads safer for everyone.
On a lighter note, been practicing my "duck walk". Got some good pointers from musigal : ) I am ready for USX orientation. :yes2557:
