OK, my trainer got the ID card from the Colorado DMV today. I think we are looking at Tuesday or Wednesday of next week to get back on the road as he needs to coordinate with the State of Missouri and Colorado to get his CDL replaced. I just need to get rolling again.

Craig, I sent you a PM, hope you recieved it alright.

Yes, Carl was my trainer last Feb or Mar. I had a great experience with him, and for any who may be interested I think Anne really hit the lottery with being assigned him for a trainer. Occasionally on TTR we read of female students being in difficult, stressful and even dangerous situations with male trainers. From my experience with Carl I can say that you both can expect him to be a true southern gentleman. And perhaps more importantly, he is a very patient and thorough teacher. It would be hard to find a more mellow, laid-back 'awe-schucks' kinda guy. After I left his truck and up-graded at Tunnel Hill, he would frequently call to see how I was doing. And I always knew he was available to answer my calls for help when I found myself in a stressfull predicament. I believe Carl is one of those rare and exceptionable people whose coaching and mentoring can be expected to last well beyound the short three week OTR period.

I've been following you and your brides posts for a little while. When Carl called this morning and asked if I was known as Poobah on TTR and it turns out that he is infact T-Bear's trainer, it made think what a small world we really live in. And what a wonderful resource this venue is to make the lonely and ostracized life of an OTR trucker so much more tolerable.

Happy Trails to each of you.

    NoCoCraig Thanks this.

I received it and thank you. It is ridiculous how fortunate we have been in this entire process. From receiving WIA funding, to the CDL school we chose, the the company we went with and now with our trainers. God loves me. Throughout my life, I have always expected good things to happen and people to be generally good. I have always said I would rather be disappointed than worried. I have rarely been disappointed.

I have to tell you also, Carl is very fortunate to have gotten my wife as a student. She is a blast and he will find himself smiling every day.

I am so happy for you and Anne. You are anxious to get going and I am anxious to get home. Actually sitting about 2 hours from the house right now after an overnight trip from Chicago to Kansas City. It sucks being out of hours and so close to home after 4 1/2 weeks.

As everyone I know in the trucking industry, including my wife, is dealing with this amazing storm, I am having a hard time feeling sorry for myself being stuck at home still. Supposed to be 20 below tonight My trainer is just waiting for a fax with his MVR record from Missouri and then we can get out of here.

Hope your wife and Carl are doing OK. I remember him going through OK. quite a bit on the Texas Longhorn Regional and it sounds like that's one state that's getting hit pretty hard. On the other hand, if they have to shut down anywhere near a Casino, Carl would probably be in Hog- Heaven!! :yes2557:

Anne drove on ice for six hours today, she is a bit tired (exhausted) she is out of hours and they are shut down for the evening. They went through Little Rock and are heading to Ardmore OK. They did find an opening at a truck stop and tonight, that is a big achievement.

I'm glad Anne is with a trainer in this mess. I've never driven my car on ice and am hesitant of driving a truck on it. I'm supposed to go back out tomorrow but right now it doesn't look like that is going to happen with I-44 closed and MO70 covered. The sun is shining, tho, and it's quit snowing so hopefully they can get the roads open...but then I have to be able to get out of my drive, down my street, and out of town...LOL

Yes, best not to tempt fate. My trainer needs the Missouri DMV to fax a form so we can get moving and they were shut down yesterday due to the weather. I hope they are open today. Anne is bobtailing to pick up a load that is going to Chicago. I have no idea how anybody thinks they can get into Chicago. Great experience for her.
