We ran 900 miles empty to Salinas CA to pick up something refrigerated at 08:00 tomorrow morning that we are taking to Annapolis MD. Over 3700 miles total. Pretty nice little run.

3700 miles is a sweet ride down the coast and then coast to coast.
Stay safe and have fun. -
I have really enjoyed this thread ,Thanks Craig and Anne..
My wife and I are considering doing the same thing in 3 years when the kids finish high school..I know I'm a little bit ahead here but I want to do plenty of research to make sure we are doing it right when the time comes...
We live in an area with lots of trucking companies.. my wife has been a stay at home mom the past 12 yrs and I have been a HVAC Tech for the past 20 yrs..I need a career change and the wife has no experince out side the home..
Our goal is to drive OTR for approx 10 yrs with the idea of socking enough cash away to semi-retire with her maybe driving something local and me going hunting & fishing with a little heat and a/c work on the side... is this a reasonable expectation..? is it reasonable to think we could make $75-100k a yr avg ? I'm wondering is it possiable we could sock away $50k+ a yr avg ? ..
at time we plan on starting this journey I will be 52 and the wife will be 44 and our Min Pin will be 6 ..
We plan on selling our house in advance and living in the truck and motels .. We do have family we can stay with on ocassions if we liked and can store our vehicle there while on the road..So home time will not be an big issue except the ocassional wedding or death in the family ect..
Thanks again to both of you, your blog is a real inspiration...
We will continue to follow your progress... kudo'sLast edited: Jun 3, 2012

100k a year is easy as a team. Your plan sounds good to me.

Seems it would be a bit cramped for 2 in the lower rack.. We sleep in a king size bed so I guess it would take some getting use too...
on another note, We enjoyed Loveland .. We were there this past fall when we took our kids camping in the RMNP... WOW what a beautiful place ...
If you get thru Nw Arkansas and have time to stop for a bite to eat we live just outside of Fayetteville and would love to meet y'all..Last edited: Jun 3, 2012
