I will be honest with you. I am solo. I have talked to teams, and have heard both good and bad. There has been some weeks where I will run into a team, and I am almost running the same miles that they are. Some that I have talked to barely have time to even stop and grap a shower. All depends on where you are and the freight lanes. Also depending if there is a L/O team in the same area being available at the same time, who has the hours to run the load, also depends if there happens to be a Mentor with a student in the area. There are many factors

cant tell you anything about swift, but 2 separate teams i talked to at conway about a year ago said on a good week they were running 5000-5500 miles a week. didnt seem like very much to me, but thats what i know

swift divides their pay (i ran teams with my wife for 2 months) so that rate of .32 a mile is actually 16c a mile. It was really hit and miss with loads and being assertive, I became a little bit of a dick with some planners, they would give me a load a solo driver would get and I would reply with a really? we are a team, give us something decent to back it up or your just wasting resources.

it is hit and miss with swift some weeks we run 6500 others 2100 all depends where they send you, as company you get miles but they will be short ones, mostly running freight solos cant deliver overnight. Their team freight is mostly super solo 800/1200 miles overnight. There is some team freight for con-way, fedex, and ups or High value loads but mostly those are grabbed up quick by l/o. If you do go with us you will learn where not to go to avoid bouncing around within 700 mile ranges.
-
I thought you had to go where ever they send you ?

true if you a company driver, I run a l/o team so I avoid some areas. I guess that is where the company teams end up, mostly in the northeast.

As A company Driver you can decline loads if u don't wanna do it but u also take the chance of not getting another one right away my DM told me if I don't wanna do a load decline it but that has been days he is off and the DM there for him and forced me to do a load guess I just have a Awsome DM.
Get into east good luck getting out of there I just spent 2 weeks solo running The East made great money but I final made it out and now back to Walmart until Xmas Eve -
I am on a mentor truck seems like we dont ever sit still (he runs like a Jack rabbit), my wife is joining me in about 8 weeks so i guess i will get to both sides of the fence,

If you want my general opinion look at the trailers flying down the black top.....
You will always see a Swift truck and trailer witch means that fright it's moving some where, and where theres freight there's money -
Looking to join Swift out of the east I'm in Jersey 20 minutes from the Avenel drop yard. Sounds like there's good freight around here. Have a set date for orentation with US Express but liking the idea of the terminal in pennsy and drop yad in NJ. Would this help with getting some decent home time? Need some good advice about swift. Any trainers in the area?
