I’m curious how other single Truck O/Os use technology. Do you use a laptop? Smart Phone? What about packet files, for setting up contracts? Do you have a file on a phone, or laptop. If so, is it pdf? Particularly where I do you store the file? Downloads? Books? Acrobat? Any tips on making it simpler would be appreciated. As far as virus protection goes, for a laptop, what’s the best way to go? I’ve had a new one for about 3 yrs now. Haven’t used it yet. Don’t want to get it infected, Theres a lot of info online, but would rather get a quick idea from others. I’ve used a laptop, but since I got an iPhone, just been using it. That’s why new laptops been sitting. Looking for a better simpler way. My main problem is, I don’t do these things enough to become second nature, and am easily frustrated by all of it. Basically barely getting by, sometimes I can’t get set up, due to downloads, or something I’m doing wrong. Has to be a simpler system, I can pick up on. I know this is very vague. Any suggestions will be appreciated greatly.

Your caught in a catch 22.
Because you hardly use the laptop ,the few times you switch it on it needs a lot off updates which take too long leading you to not use it often.
Use it every day and within a week it will go smooth.
You just need to bite the bullet.

Anti virus.....i just use the buildin windows.
    Aint had a virus yet.

Ok, last computer I had at home had Norton, and Mcaffey. This one came with 6 mo. Mcaffey free. But it’s expired. I never have a problem with the iPhone. I use the hotspot for Netflix, at home. Would like to use it in the Truck on the laptop. Instead of a TV. I’m wondering if the iPhone hotspot has virus protection? Since I want to use laptop with hotspot. Not sure how that works.

Use the built in anti virus and don't click on the offers of free head or a Nigerian prince who wants to make you a millionaire and you're fine?

Youtube and Google are your friend.;)
    Not kidding.
    I use those 2 a lot.
Use common sense and it will work out.
And if you need a extra hand...............post your problem clearly on TTR and someone will help.

That’s kind of where I’m at now!! You know how YouTube is, one or two good knowledgeable videos, and 200 copy cats, or waste of time videos.

That’s just it, I’m good at communicating. I learned from the best, watching them negotiate, reading between the lines. Seeing through BS. But this technology age is different, no interaction, just follow the program. Used to be more entrepreneurs, that provided service.Real People with Real Character. Now everything’s taken over by the Big Guys. Technology is the key to keeping up these days. Truckings really affected. Huge 3pls with the contracts, Independants working for them. All the big moneys in technology, and being able to harness it. I’m just trying to keep up. I’ll keep looking at utube videos. Sure I’ll learn something.
