    I'm looking to purchase some computer parts and software. I'm wondering if any of our members have used these two websites and if they are legit ? >>

    They are coming up on pricewatch as the cheapest. I usually stick to newegg but they are starting to lag on some prices. I've never had problems with newegg but if I can buy it cheaper. So be it........

    I'd stay away from Discount Mountain Software. If you look at them, you'll see O.E.M., that's Original Equipment Market or Merchandise. It is illegal to sell OEM software separate from the computer. OEM software is sold by the manufacturer to hardware manufacturers. For instance, what I do know, having worked with Corel for the last 7 yrs, they will sell OEM versions to Dell, HP, Acer, ect., to put on their machines.

    What I'm seeing is a website selling illegal software.

    DMS, does sell full retail versions, which is what I'm looking to buy. The prices are lower than a few sites I've looked at. I also looked at reviews on pcmagazine but you know how some reviews go.

    99% of anything you might need can be bought on Amazon dot com. Tax Free in most cases and typically no freight and service is very prompt, especially when buying directly from Amazon. In Texas, Altex electronics (San Antonio, Waco, Austin, Dallas, etc) has most of the typical needs. You could build a pretty impressive system there, but if I wanted to build a kick-butt machine from the ground up, Amazon is the cheapest way to go and you can find anything you can dream of.

    I even buy my Keurig coffee there (no freight) and cheaper than in the stores and I can use my American Express points.

    Thank you for the concern and input on OEM. You can purchase OEM software from vendors though it is a fine line what you can do with it. I'm not going into the details because that is not the point of this thread.
