Give me the name and the wattage. I have been looking at several and it looks like I need to find one that has "pure sine wave". Im not concerned about what you paid of where you got it, I just want the brand/name/model and wattage. Have you had any issues with it? Almost all I have seen, the reviews are for using it as backup power and not installed in a truck.

Thanks, this will really help me narrow down my choices.

I use a cobra 400watt inverter connected to a hard line going to the batteries. I once had one of those yellow and black inverters sold at love's and pilot but it was garbage.

    Pure sine-wave...Are you sure?
If you need that, be prepared to shell out some SERIOUS CASH, especially if wattage is of any concern.
Most items can run on the regular SQUARE WAVE. Even my microwave, tools, laptops, phones, etc all do fine on
    a square wave.

I would indeed recommend install direct to your batteries using appropriate gauge wire and a FUSE.
By all means - USE A FUSE! - Unless you like toasted trucks.

I use THOR products. I like the design and build of these units and the price was decent.

They do make a PURE SINE WAVE device - if you really need one.
A 1000watt Pure Sine Wave in this brand would set you back about $500
A 3000watt Pure Sine Wave in this brand would set you back about $1100

I have not spoken to nor met any trucker that has a pure sine wave inverter in their rig.
    Maybe one will respond here....

I had a pure sine wave inverter, used it to power my Playstation 3. I bought it from a local RV dealer. If I remember correctly, I paid roughly $500 for 1200 Watts. I now have an apu to power my things.

Thanks, this is the type of info I was looking for. Im not 100% sure if I need the pure sine wave or not, this is just what I was reading in reviews. Like I said, most of these people were using them as backup when power goes out or off solar panels. Other than a microwave or a induction cook top I dont think much will create a large draw. The other things I plan on using/charging are low draw like a laptop, ipad, iphone and the like.

I have a Samlex pure sine wave 600W, I bought mine here and they have a lot of pure sine wave inverters, including this one for $329 right now on sale, looks like a smoking deal to me!

We have a Samlex 12v 1500W in our truck. If you plan on running a fridge, microwave, laptops, etc., you will do well to go with a pure sine inverter. A modified wave inverter just doesn't produce a clean enough power source to be trusted with sensitive electronics.
