Seeing all this flooding in TX makes me wonder if I really want to go there. Just brainstorming at this point.
The sad thing is, I am probably stuck in CA forever.
Tell me where the local tanker jobs are in TX.

You can also look into southern Louisiana, along I-10. Plenty of chemical plants, good food, and Cajun girls.

Not all of Houston is flooded I live north east of it on the Humble Atascocita county line and its not flood here at all highways are good. I jus hired on with small company and it's all Cadillac work nice and easy. Ran flatbed before OTR thought I'd never do anything else glad I went to interview while I was home. Need to get hazmat tho, it's totally worth it.

Im between SA & CC and we've gotten LOTS of rain but have been spared the danderous flooding issue..some places are still hiring but a lot are on freezes & alot are taking advantage of oil $ drop & cutting out pay but I still have all the hrs & days I want to work as far as living in S.TX I came from Montana & worked in ND 3 1/2 yrs & now S.TX 2 1/2 yrs my only complaint is the humidity & bugs & flipn spider webs that turn you into an instant ninja when you walk into one

Especially when hauling milk from Clovis up to Dalhart during a few of those blinders, what few plows they could get out there were doing their jobs as best as they could.
Wish I could say the same about NM, as they seem to keep all their snow removal assets for the 25 corridor(ABQ and Santa Fe are the protected zone, the rest of the state is on their own)
I moved out to NM right here along the TX stateline about three years ago after having lived in SoCal for 24 years.
The milk hauling here and in some of the adjacent TX cities(Shallowater, Lubbock, Dimmitt,.etc) seems to pay quite uniformly for any given company out here($200-$300/day or night mark).
But I feel like I've gotten my time in over here and am now aiming towards moving back towards some mountains and actual desert like ABQ or Phoenix again.
Jobs are actually plentiful and good in this part of the country.
But the vibe and scenery out here take a certain person and getting used to.
I would say the similarity between Modesto and Lubbock is similar enough that they are almost interchangeable.
I say give it a shot and see how it works out.
Worked well enough for me and I took a Greyhound out to here the first time around!!jet460 Thanks this. -
