Right on puppage. At least we can say that we tried and won't have to wonder what could have been. Worst case scenario is that we hate it as much as what we do now. We can always go back to corporate america...puke lol

Well, its official. Failed pilots become truckers....
I flew King Airs for a law firm until they decided to sell the airplane so instead of going to asia flying caravans I figured I'd take a one year break and learn how to drive trucks for sh*ts and giggles. That was 19 years ago.
If you think noob trucker pay is bad, you should see what noob pilots get. And a CPL takes longer and is more expensive to get.

Grew up on a farm. Left the farm and went to school to be an Engineer. Got a job as a welder out of college, then as a fitter, then as a lead hand, then got a job designing light armored vehicles. Did that for 17 years. Left that to come back to the farm and change the farm fleet from private carrier fleet to motor carrier for hire. That was 7 yrs ago.

That's what a friend of mine tells me. He says that since pilots are required to fly a certain number of hours to maintain their license, they basically work for free until they give it up LOL.

If you have a dream, do not ponder very long, just go for it. Old age comes around very rapidly, and you do not want to be one of the majority who have had a passion and a chance, but due to fear, family, seniority and etc., chose not to. Nothing worse than dreams and opportunities that sailed away while we stood on shore. They say, the hardest part of a 1000 mile journey is the "first step...."

God has allowed America to be great, but also, our fore fathers dreamed and acted upon those like this world has never seen. Yes, this all may sound rhapsodic, but it is true. I hope we get this fire in our belly once again, if not.....

I used to jump out of bed to get here. It was exciting, good people, etc. Now, there's been a changing of the guard and with that, a new direction. It's time for me to change direction. And, it's great that you have your family behind you, that's huge! I see that you're in Ontario......can we still be friends if I tell you that I am a dyed in the wool Habs fan? :)

I'm going to guess that this was directed at me. If not, then my big head will just assume everyone talks to me! :p

I know the feeling of jumping out of bed. Ok well no I don't but I do remember staying up till 3-4 am on a new project trying to figure it all out. Now I've lost all of that. I think its my company that killed that spark to the point I don't even enjoy computers as a hobby. (Which it has been since I was about 10? so almost 20 years now.)

I'm not a hockey fan (I'm actually a nascar fan so everyone around me thinks I'm weird.) so the most I care about is the want of a Canadian team to win when it comes to everything hockey.

Its really nice to have my family behind me as my pig headedness kept me from taking any support from them before and when I was going though school for IT and that put me a few years behind because of that.

Hey Tanker , I have worked on a lot of Beechcraft Kingair's in my life mostly military C-12 versions , great airplane and you cant beat those PT 6 engines.
I just fly my Cub for a hobby and work on airplanes for a living.

You mentioned you had a chance to fly Caravans in Asia , where was that at , maybe they are looking for mechanics ???:biggrin_25514:

I have been here in Korea for 9 years and hating the cold weather would love to find a job somewhere warm and tax free until I move back to Indiana and drive a truck.

It doesn't get that cold at Humphreys. Just a little bit of snow during the winter and a bit of water during the wet season.
