    No need to bring OSx into the fight, they have zero business software designed for it. Oh, wait they have a really hacked up version of MS office. OSx has many hang ups and holes. In the 2008 hackers convention OSx was the easiest operating system to hack. The only saving grace of OSx is it's small market share compaired to MS. No money in hacking OSX yet.

    Good point. We still use 2k for our POS systems and store servers (and, while it doesn't run great, it runs. Not 2k's fault, it's the vendor) but the rest of our systems are XP, except servers, of course. I guess Mack figures "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

    I'm running vist home ultimate (or whatever) on a 2 gig dell m1530 at around 40% ram....go to www.majorgeeks.com and check out;
    -advanced system care 3 beta- run the smart ram in the utilities section plust the rest of it
    -also cccleaner -and emprunner -auslogic registry defrag
    -and cleanup! -and mru blaster -and pc decrapifier
    -revo uninstaller (get rid of things you never use) -and regseeker
    other nice tools;
    -drivermax -winpatrol -and filehippo update checker
    all are free.
    mods if this is inapropriate I'll delete or please delete

    my wife has a m1530 w/vista and 4 gigs....ohhhwheee that thing is sweet.

    oh yeah, that black something web site someone recommended earlier helps to. Kinda sucks I had to put all this stuff on my comp. to get it the way I want, but I like it now.

    one other program for you memory taxed comp. runners. 'CleanMem' it sets to run every 30 min. by windows task schedular so that it doesn't sit there and drain on your system- it runs and frees up memmory from programs that aren't using it, then turns back off, its quick....if they need it back they can just take it....all this stuff had my 2 gig sys. (it's vista ultimate) running at 32% earlier today....

    If it's branded by Yahoo...it doesn't get access to my #### period.

    There are tons of great widgets available. Without using domain specific designs. My favorite, is my Network meter for my Wi-Fi. I also have the dual core meter...but tossed it out of the line-up. It was useless to me since I rarely see it use 50% of available resources.

    Yeah, I agree....but I can't find a widget/gadget like it anywhere....it's the only one I've found that I can do all the things I want....(and they have a decent spy checker on their bar, which is different then informer- on their search bar). I've tried and as soon as I do find something to replace both- their both gone. The informer widget is pretty sweet....I'm running speed fan with and it monitiors all temps. in the computer on my informer bar plus wifi, bit usage on net, and a folder consolidating all files, among many other things....if you find one like i let a brother know.

    Funny how all of you claim to need 4GB to run Vista, yet the 32-bit version of Vista can't even utilize the full 4GB of RAM. I'm running Vista Ultimate with DreamScene and a few other programs and sitting at 32%. You're either doing something really wrong or I'm doing something really right.
