I went to one of the swift trucking schools in late 2005 and drove for them for about 1.5 years. during this time i got three preventable accidents and two tickets and was terminated for the 3rd preventable on feb 20, 2007. this next february everything will have fallen off the 5 year mark. and my driving record since feb 2007 is crystal clear. (havent driven trucks though). my cdl expired in 2009. my cdl needed to be renewed in 2009 but i just renewed regular license because they were going to make me take a road test in which i had to supply the truck.

what i am wondering is if any company would let me start from the beginning and go through training again? i am so willing to do it all over again for a second chance.

    any help is appreciated.

What were those tickets and accidents for?

With 3 accidents and 2 tickets in a year and a half, you should consider another career. Trucking isn't for everyone.

While all that will fall from you MVR.

It will remain on your DAC until the 7 year mark.

    Good luck..............

You must live in IL if you have to do the road test again??

I'm with the others. Your track record says you ain't cut out for it. What's going to change this go around? One accident in a year and a half is acceptable. Two suggests problems. Three means you ain't cut out for it.

A 4 wheeler driving record has nothing to do with truck driving. They get away with crap everyday while truckers are under the radar. If there was sufficient law enforcement, 80% of this country would have their license suspended.

I wouldn't be down on yourself. Everyone is good at some things and not others. I see trucking like the ability to play a guitar or singing. Either you have it or you don't. Though I'd like to be on Xfactor, it ain't never going to happen, lol.

I would identify your strong points and find what you enjoy to do and do what it takes to pursue a career there.

I highly doubt the insurance companies will give you another chance. You have to disclose a 10 year employment history. Until then they will find out.

Insurance companies usually only check the last 3 years of your mvr. Other than what shows up on your DAC, you will also be looked at as a new inexperienced driver since you let your CDL expire. You will most likely need to go back through school for at least a refresher and get your CDL back. Having 3 accidents and 2 tickets in only a year and a half, shows prospective employers that you are careless. Even minor accidents can greatly impact a carrier with higher insurance premiums and high safety scores. Carriers are more sensitive to driver behavior since the kickoff of CSA. Points given a driver will stay with a carrier, even if they terminate the offending driver. Carriers don't want to put themselves in the position of having a driver that may cost them money. High safety or CSA scores can impact a carrier's ability to get better paying freight. Only a few weeks ago, I got a call to haul a very expensive over-sized piece of machinery because of my safety record. I would not have gotten that call without a very strong safety record.

If you can really handle the job,

apply at every company you can think of.

Somebody (won't be the best perhaps) will hire you.

If this is what you really want to do then it will be up to you to make it happen. Sometimes, it takes a lot of effort to get back into the game once you have been out for a while. Often it is a matter of knocking on the right doors. If someone does give you an opportunity to get back into the drivers seat, I would make sure to be very careful. You will need to go for a year or two with no accidents or tickets. If you can manage that then you can go pretty much where you want. You may not get much response until you have your CDL in hand.

I'd ask what age this happened, when people are younger they do retarded things, I lost my licence when I was 19 for speeding, my own fault, but at the same time the greatest thing to happen to me, because I was 19, I kept driving unlicensed, but made sure I did everything by the book, never going over the speed limit etc, I learnt from that, do you feel you learnt from this? That you will be a better driver?

What if you got terminated from training and NOT given a reason and it goes down on your DAC Report as "Terminated from/during training and NOT re-hirable"?
