I was walking through the office. Some dude was standing next to my travel agent. She was saying, “He won’t take this, he won’t take this, he won’t take this…”. The planner getting frustrated asked, “Who is this A Hole?!?!” She points at me as I walk up. The planner bows his head and runs back to his cubicle. Apparently, he really didn’t want to talk to me.

Listen to me gents: We teach people how to treat us. If you as a driver have a strong work ethic, that’s great. Thing is, you have to have a strong work ethic and be disagreeable. The guys that will do anything and never complain are going to sh@t upon with no explanation. If you can do anything that they need you to do and be completely reliable BUT you are disagreeable , they will cater to you. It shows you have the stones in your sack. It’s what they want in a driver. It’s what you want in a driver.

No one respects a Yes Man. This is why I always say to do the best of your ability, but to hold your trucking company to a high standard. Don’t do “favors.” Don’t be nice. It’s BUSINESS. If you need to go home, go the F home. When they try to send you the opposite direction, tell them that ain’t gonna work. What are they going to do? Fire you? Go right ahead. I can quit you at 0800 Monday and have another job by 0803. F you and die.

    There are rules for DAC

You have the right to challenge inaccurate info on your file & have it removed.

You have a right to submit a statement concerning any entry & that statement must be given to anyone making an inquiry about your record. You must follow DAC's rules about the statement (word count, etc) or DAC will not enter it into your file.

DAC HireRight are covered by same rules as credit bureaus. You have the same rights with DAC/HireRight as with credit bureaus governed by Fair Credit Reporting Act

    Today I Learned...!!

Thanks, @Iamoverit . That's a nice little bit of paperwork judo that many folks wouldn't think about.

As a day cab driver that does both local and long haul work I learned a long time ago that when a dispatcher especially one at the corporate office tells you to do something that is either impossible or will screw up the system you explain it to them and then you document it. Then do exactly what they told you to do.
    Now it’s on them.

With your record and experience I wouldn’t sweat it. I’d tell future employers that you quit due to being treated poorly by management and that you have standards when it comes to management/employee communication and they did not live up to your standards. Their word against yours as to whether you quit or were fired. As far as DAC report goes I can’t help as I’ve never worked for a company that utilized it

Mind you it’s a different market but here in the Portland, OR area I don’t know of any fuel or chemical company that cares about DAC. It’s all nonsense. Most places just want someone with a clean record and willing to work.

Lots of places use HireRight for background checks. DAC provides employment history, MVR, drug test results, accidents etc etc. The things you've mentioned are all part of the report. Of course, not everyone adds data to it but many people will pull it as part of a BG check. Get a copy of your own. You might be surprised at the activity and data you find.

With a few exceptions -- by far & away the worst part of trucking seems to be dealing with at least part of the gang back in the office &/or management.

Some of them seem to be real pros at creating draaaaahhhh-maaahh.

This "lack of fiber in the office" issue seems to be something of a real problem most everywhere.

    Best of luck....

Not being rude but I couldn’t care less about it. No tickets or accidents, and I haul hazmat and am good at it. Getting a job is never a problem.

Several years ago I was fired from a bus driving job. The CEO had taken a strong dislike of me for reasons I never learned (something that never happened before or since, honest, I’m a generally likable guy!).

I applied for a job with a different company and explained what had happened at that job, and I included letters of recommendation from previous employers, and I guess I interviewed well, because I was hired. Even though, as I learned later, the owner of my new company was socially friendly with the guy who fired me!
