An unexpected event can cause a temporary crisis of confidence.. It's a humbling experience, but that's how people learn to be more humble.
Every trucking company I have ever worked for has forced/expected drivers to lie on logbooks but yet demand complete honesty in other areas from them. Such a two faced industry.
But it's best to report it right when it happens and take lots of pictures.Last edited: Jan 2, 2024
AfterShock, chimbotano, Tropsnart and 6 others Thank this. -
Uninsulated tankwagons, especially eliptical smooth skin aluminum fuel tankers, a small dent is a big deal.
Aluminum work hardens so as the multiple load/unload cycles continue the dented area will eventually crack.Last edited: Jan 2, 2024

I don't think your husband is out of trucking for good. I don’t know what's on the DOT form, I would think that had something to do with his medical card, I really can't say. Maybe someone can chime in and educate the masses. Violate the company policy is all he needs to put down when applying for jobs. Tell him don't talk about the incident unless necessary. Its not likenits a rollover or jack knife. If you state where y'all stay, and his experience level and he can get pointed to another company. He will need to tighten up...

The DOT doesn't care nor do they have access to his personnel records. However IMHO a lie is unrecoverable from. 1 lie leads to another then another then you forgot what you lied about in the first placeGearjammin' Penguin, Big Road Skateboard, The_vett and 1 other person Thank this.

One detail missing from your long missive; was he hauling hazmat????
-
Keep applying for jobs. Someone will hire him. Lesson learned hopefully.

If that was a gas trailer the barrel is dented……
-
Chemical tanker has a stainless steel skin protecting the insulation. If the dent is shallow it doesn’t dent the barrel.
Bottom line is he should have said something and took a picture of it. -
We do not lie and then admit it.
