I tried the suggestions of games and videos, i just didn't get it. My trainer at tmc wanted me to stick my head out the window of the 379. My mind doesn't work like that. I have to actually do things to learn, and with backing i do better when looking in my mirrors and getting it to look, than i do by looking out the window

I totally agree with this. I only look out my window during that brief period that you can't see anything out of your mirrors. Once I can see its mirrors all the way. Everyone's eye (and mind) sees things differently.

The thing with backing is people tend to make it MUCH more complicated than it is. Once you have the basic mechanics it's simple, it really is. I hear guys talk about all these formulas and it confuses me. The biggest thing a driver can do to help them with their backing is slow down- it's not a race. In the beginning you should barely be moving - this helps you make any corrections before it gets too late. That, and GOAL, and you'll be fine.

Don't overcomplicate it. Avoid paralysis by analysis

See if this game helps you. I'm not sure what your specific problem may be so I have to be very general.

    4. “The best thing I can say is watch your mirrors stop and look if you’re not sure, and always blow your horn before backing up any place. Remember you can't see right behind you. Be safe and good luck driver.” – George Raymond

    That's from the Schneider tips.

In other news, super safe driver George Raymond died recently after being brutally beaten by a mob of other truck drivers because he blew his horn while trying to back into a spot at a flying j at 1am.

And do stop now and then WALK back there #### it and LOOK.

Don't anyone stick students in a small 17 foot pup anymore? That will teach you backing REAL quick. The problem with the 53's is that they slowly respond to your steering. Again I have one sentence for you to think.

Turn that wheel opposite where you want to back. Un turn that wheel and follow trailer in.
