Hello my name is Shelly and I need some good advice. I'm a graduate from Swift Academy in Tx. I started my mentorship in October. I started driving solo in November. From Nov to Jan I had minor crashes every month and was then terminated...I don't blame them that makes me a liability 1st crash i pulled away from loading dock and turned maybe 2ft to soon and trlr door clipped trlr bulkhead on right side and took my door off 2nd incident i was told to go to wrong dock i back in that dock perfectly but when i pulled out of an already tight spot(the reason why it was the wrong dock) the open trlr door BUMPED the top of the dock roll door and bent my trlr hinges so my door wouldn't close 3rd i was following company gps which sent me down a dead end street it was 4am and no vehicles around in a vacant lot so i pulled in it so that i could straight line back into a driveway in order to turn around well i did a GOAL but unfortunately i didn't look behind the trlr (totally my fault) itook out an at&t pole. I have to say I had 2 mentors 1st mentor didn't even now how to back up she would always get the hostler to back. my second mentor wouldn't let me back at all when we would get close to our destination he made me get out driver seat and he drove from there. I feel if i was trained properly I may not have had those incidents..I didn't know how far to pull out b4 i should start turning my tractor or if im in a tight spot how to avoid bumping my open doors. These things i had to learn from my mistakes. These mistakes are not on my mvr im told but on my dac and csa. I'm a cautious driver never speed always keep safe following distance was never late to my stops and courteous to everyone...I love this field of work. so what or how can I get back to work im honest on my applications about my situations but im a risk and no one will take me WHAT CAN I DO?

Find a company that will train you and make the trainer train you. You should have spoken up when you didn't feel you were ready.

Sadly this industry doesn't give people to many chances. You might can get on with Trans Am or western express. But other then that u might be out of luck. You have to use common sense and nobody can really train you on that. Hope it works out for you though.

Does your husband drive? You have "Truckers Significant Other" on your profile.
Put your location on your profile so we know the hiring area you live in.

Pull your DAC and CSA. Ensure they were reported properly. Those will help when trying to qualify at another truck company.

Sorry to hear that. It is hard to understand why you would come on here and give details of the accidents. I mean no disrespect, but I hope these accidents have been closed out because attorneys can and will use the details on here against you for the accidents, be careful what you say. Good luck.

How is any of that on her CSA score? CSA is only for inspections, etc from scales, people... jesus christ. DAC, yes, Swift will put on there your incidents.

You're in the hiring area for Paschall Truck Lines. Sometimes they give drivers a second chance. This company has lots of Texas freight so you will see lots of Texas, Houston, Laredo and won't be a problem with them setting you up for home time. Trucks have APU's.

Note here * Don't refer to anything as "crashes" or "accidents", always use the word "incident" and let the trucking company take it from there.

Stuka, Speedloader, Big Don and 5 others Thank this.
