    Hello all,
I've been lurking here for a few weeks investigating trucking as an option reading a ton of threads and I wanted to get some opinions on my situation.

I got fired from my office job 2 months ago. I got caught up in some office politics, speaking my mind when I probably should have kept my mouth shut. I wasn't happy with my managers and spoke out, then got fired. I found out recently that both of the managers I took exception with were let go. My arguments were legit, but so what. I still got fired.

I have 12 years of work history in my field, computer programming, and this is my only strike against me. I have contracted with many companies, and I have references throughout my field that can vouch for both my work and my character.

If I apply to a place that trains drivers, such as Central Ref. or Stevens, will this disqualify me automatically? How should I communicate this to them?

I wouldn't worry about it. The gaps in employment are the big concern. What have you been doing for the last two months?

I wouldn't worry about the recent job loss. Obviously, if they contact the company that terminated you, they will be given the negatives. I would make sure that your references know they might be contacted by trucking companies and ask them to speak of your strong work ethic and other qualities you have. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been living on my savings and freelancing, programming some small software applications. Programming pays well enough that I have a decent buffer. Would this be a problem? I can give references for the small freelance projects if needed.

I've also worked with my brother's company, doing masonry/stone restoration. But I'm really just out there to help my brother and sweat a bit. He splits project profit with me giving me a percentage.
