I engaged the clutch, put it in neutral and then activated/tested brakes by putting it in gear during the test with the examiner. I am pretty sure i could have just left it in gear with the clutch fully depressed activating the clutch brake. Best thing to do is find out what the examiner prefers. Who is teaching you?

I didn't hold the pedal brake down because I was on level ground, well actually I probably did when both spring brakes were released, I think. I was pretty nervous and cant recall much. lol

I'm pretty sure I only used the service brake to fan the air tanks down to test the low air alarm and get the spring brakes to activate at 20-40 psi. Then started it up and built up the pressure and performed the trailer/tractor/application pressure loss tests and lastly the service brake test. Not sure if I did it exactly right, but got 100% on the in cab tests, whew. I believe the air brake test is the one test that if you don't get it right its an instant fail. That and no hitting curbs or shifting over RR tracks.

Are you going to a school or taking it on your own?

the school taught me, if the parking break and / or emergency breaks are on, no reason to have your foot on the break peddle. your breaks are engaged. cover break peddle during the air breaks test, but don't push on it.
I talked my way thru it. "now going to test emergency breaks on trailer, cover break peddle, releasing tractor parking break, fully engage clutch, low gear, ease on clutch, tug a bit on breaks, and yes they hold, fully engage clutch, back to neutral and need to test the parking breaks...." I'm sure was annoying to the examiner fellow having to hear step by step, but worked great for me.
