I'm a bigger guy as well and technically meet all the requirements that say you should have to have a sleep study but none of the doctors that have done my physical even mention it so I really think it's based on what doc you get

The dot doc I had when I got my med card for school said that I did not have sleep apnea but I do have insomnia or it might be sleep apnea.

Take up jogging before your test. Sorry but I am blown away at society's willingness to become obese. I still workout daily in my truck. Try to do it for a week and then you probably won't stop once you see and feel the results.

Ya,if your 50 years old or older and have a neck over 17 inches around,or a body mass fat index of 35%, (goes by height and weight) but, what if you're a Power Lifter you say? Don't know bUT a 5'6 guy 61 years old with an 18 inch neck just received the "good news" last week.Has insurance but, still "tearing $357 outta his pocket.,to start with.Supposed to keep drivers from falling asleep at the wheel. He says "I drove a log truck in Oregon for 16 years, never fell asleep.Doesn't matter,if you fit the criteria,be ready to sleep with an expensive Hannibal Lecture machine on you.

So I had a sleep study done by my insurance to see if I had sleep apnea. After that was done they determine that I do have sleep apnea. I am just now waiting on getting my machine. How is it like having sleep apnea while being a driver for people that have it?

Sorry to hear the bad news, however it's manageable (the one driver I know that has it).Pain in the butt. You have to carry the Hannibal Lecture machine with you in your truck, have to use it on your days off (they record you via SD card or something in there. The worst thing "he says" is Even with insurance it's $150 a month to get the "results read off the card or whatever.Almost like"an extra utility bill" Tore outta his pocket every Month.

How do you get any "satisfaction "- nature being what it is and all- with that thing attached to your face?

It's gotta be a total turnoff, romantically speaking. Hey, what can i say? I'm a lover not a fighter. ;-)

I still don't get the big deal with sleep apnea.
Probably some BS created by the federal government so they call sell more drugs, machines and fancy equipment people don't need
