I was scheduled to start with Company A today 5/7 in Dallas. They told me to 4/12 that every thing was set up and to come on down. Not wanting to ride a greyhound for a couple of days I told them I would fly in and went home and bout a non refundable airline ticket and the next day gave them three weeks notice at work. I was told by my recruiter to check in every Thursday.

I called to check in on 4/19 and was told don't bother coming unless I already had my CDL because of the rule changes, he said to call them in two weeks and see if they had figured out a work around... Since I had already resigned my current job and would be unemployed in two weeks, I made other plans and found another company that told me to come in on 5/14.

On Monday 4/30 I get an email from the Co. A recruiter with a list of what to bring. I called and asked WTF? He said training is back on. OK, then, I will be there...

On Wed 5/2 I get a call from Co. A... sorry, can't do it, call us on 5/7, (Keep in mind I have a non refundable one way ticket for 5/6). Luckily I had never cancelled the other gig.

On Friday 5/4 I get another call from Company A telling me it's all set, come on out, they have delayed the new regs until Sept...

I am still in DE and heading to the 5/14 gig. 5 times they have changed the story in a 4 week period. Sorry, I have little faith they know what in the hell they are doing.

So to summarize, I don't know for sure, but I have been told (I won't add the obligatory "on good authority") that as of today training for out of State students is back on, but as my experience has shown me, it is subject to change at any time. If you are going to go, I would suggest going as soon as possible and not dicking around too long.

Me I am starting somewhere else.

Yeah, the lawmakers want all students in Texas have a valid Tx address. They keep debating it back and forth. I don't know if it has been delayed until Sept. or not. I can't keep up.

I have a couple week delay before I can leave to go to school so thank you Kmac for that reply I will try to keep a close eye on what is happening and hopefully I won't leave my present job then find out my plans to go to Texas aren't going to happen. With that said if any of the drivers out there hear any more info on this I would appreciate a short post on this thread. I know that I am not the only one that is concerned about this. Thank you all in advance for helping a newbe take the first step to a new way of life.

Your hotel is your valid Texas address.

Texas is changing the residency requirement to 60 days and proof would need to be utility bills or other mail.

The issue is when exactly it is taking effect. As I said in an earlier post I got jerked around 5 times in a three week period between yes you can come to no you can't. I am going somewhere else no to avoid the inevitable confusion, but I was told that the new rules will now go into effect in September... But I am not sure what to believe anymore...
