Does anyone have experience working for Mission petrolem? Got a message from them and haven't found any information about the company online.

I know their yard in Corpus Christi is AJ squared away, and not a sh*thole like a lot of yards I've seen. I know they are hiring experienced drivers there. You have just enough, apparently.

I met the manager there, and he was a really good guy. The office was very professional. I didn't get hired. LOL (not enough recent experience)

Almost right next door, StarTex (fuel and lube hauler) was very interested in hiring me even without experience, and more or less on the spot, to haul fuel. I went to the yard and found it difficult to determine which of several "trailers" might be the office, and which trucks "might" be in running condition and which were not. It was a stark comparison.

I'm on at Big Red - Halliburton down in SE Texas. SNI Midland didn't work out. In the end, it's all for the best. The wife would HATE Midland, and I've had enough dry desert for the last 12 years.

I looked around down here for a while. Trimac was also a good company by comparison to many. (same deal, no recent experience). This is the problem. smaller companies can't take on newbies. Period. I talked to several of them, all of whom had restrictions on hiring without recent experience. Some would have been very good to work for, others would clearly NOT have been. I'll not publicly air my opinions about them. (except StarTex, but to be fair, I went by my impression of the place in Corpus, and not by facts, or by talking to their drivers...it just didn't "smell right".)

Personally, I think if you're a newbie, the best thing to do right now is to get with a larger company and earn your way. It does seem to take a long time to work into one of them though. (Key Energy, Halliburton, etc..) I went on a personal reference and a little grace. I personally wonder about smaller companies who would hire with no recent driving experience, just because they have to be either working with no insurance, or they are ignoring the requirement. Not good signs.

I'm maybe a bit more cautious and more conservative than some, so if you want to take chances, by all means, don't let me discourage you.

I have a neighbor about 5-6 house's down from me that used to drive for them some years ago as he got out of trucking but I saw a 379 pete with a petro tank parked down there the other day that has the same company colors as Mission so he may have gotten back into it. I don't know anything about them. I haven't bothered to appy since I don't have any tank experiance.

Saw this older post and really wondering what the poster is referring to. I'd PM him directly but it seems he hasn't visited since May.

This post seems it was a response to someone talking about Nabors. What's this 4 week CDL class he is talking about? Does Nabors offer CDL training for students who want to come down without CDLs?

Right now I feel committed to go to FFE because as far as I can see they are the only company that has CDL training and can get guys hauling on the fields after. Is Nabors (or anyone else) another option?
