A few years ago when the price of crude was high we had the ability to haul one load 500 miles or more. With the pipeline issue this has become possible again.
If you have any info on openings for a crude O/O team, info on rates, etc feel free to reply with a post or send me a private direct message please and I will share what I know too.
Currently in the Pearsall, Cotulla, Dilley area doing lots of short hauls.
Thanks!

I even saw a job posted where a company is looking for drivers to haul a load from West TX down to South TX. They load and unload the oil for the driver so no crude experience required, but they were paying what appeared to be OTR rates about $300 per day plus a per diem. Actually may be worse than OTR, never did that but $300 seems low for a days driving.

I do this run as a company driver. The run pays $420 to me and can be completed in about 12 hours total. One load a night LACT to LACT for Plains.
No climbing tanks
Its about 675 miles total each night round trip:
San Antonio > Barnhart/Big Lake > Cotulla > San Antonio
There are owner operator companies running this same route along side us. Their pay is $1600-$1700 a run
Owner Op Companies I see on my route:
WTL Oil
CW2 (pronounced CW squared)
Nakota
I'm actually truck shopping right now and looking to graduate to owner op.AustinW, Deckerman, heartlessangel7 and 3 others Thank this. -
Thanks for the info. I'm also looking for information on owner operator crude drivers in Texas, Colorado,New Mexico , Oklahoma
Doesn't matter, long as the checks are flowing
I found:
Texstar crude transport
Pinnacle Resources & Logistics, LLC
Telescope Trucking LLC
Atlas oil (crude owner operator)
Dupre (crude owner operator)

What kind of wetkit system do you need to ride a crude trailer. I have mine set up for end dump is there a difference other than the tank And hydraulic lines. ? Or do I need a specific type of wetkit pump to haul crude...?
-
There is a difference. I've never really understood it well enough to explain it to you. Basicly you need hydraulic oil cooler as constant flow on the system over heats the oil without it. I think the pumps are geared different as well.

As far as hydraulic coolers we used to use a Thermaflow. The #### fans kept clogging up with mud and breaking so we tried a new system. We took the Thermaflow out of the loop and put in a 30 GAL reservoir which holds the excess hydraulic fluid during circulation and keeps the fluid cool enough with no moving parts. Worked great in 105 weather!

I've seen a similar setup on some of our older trucks. I like the simplicity.
