This guy needed a couple of good belly chains front and back and the load would have stayed where it was loaded.Bind your belly first and unbind it first haul it all day long without riding with it.

Not to mention a headache rack would have slowed that down a little.

I agree he should of had it belly chained, and a good headache rack, maybe he didn't want to cover up his little window behind the sleeper, but that little window almost helped cost that driver his life.I'm just glad the driver lived thats the most important and that noone else was involved in the accident .

Most of these companies in TX won't allow any chains on their pipe. that's why you see almost exclusive straps. A lot of this stuff is for real deep directional drilling and supposedly chains screw it up.

what would poses a person to drive an unsafe truck without a head board or headache rack????????????/

I agree Notarps I bellywrap pipe even if it has a band around it already never can be to safe but that's just me . As for as this incident I do know he was from a company I never heard of . Could be possible he ran for a company hat not only does flatbed but different other things to. But one thing for sure he was lucky that he lived myself if i didn't have religion i may have found it that day

Somebody said "flatbedding ain't for sissies"!!!

A headrack is NOT going to stop a load of pipe like the pics that I posted. Those pipes are far too heavy by themselves. Add in multiple pipes and the headrack will NOT stop them. Barely slow them down.

I been driving a bit now, and my stepdad got me to go with anderson as my first flatbed company. I remember when i was a kid he had a steel plate i guess it was that was mounted at the front of the trailer now granted that was back in the 80's, for you long time flatbedders did that help or in this case would it help. Still learning the flatbedding and I call him still when i'm not sure how to tie something down even take a picture and send it to him for advice . Just was curious is all.
