I work for a steel company here in Ok. Each driver does it differently but I keep the 20' pipe and other product we deliver on the front half of my trailer. I only started doing this about 2 weeks ago. 3 days after moving it to the front I had some young and dumb lady turn in front of me to go into a parking lot. Thankfully the load only moved 2 - 3" ( up against the headboard ). I agree with the previous poster about observing other drivers. I do it constantly and I learn a lot of things that make my job easier and certainly safer.

Wow. I never looked at that. But one question what was he doing when this happened and how do I keep this from happening to me.

When it happened he probably was doing the same thing that pilots of the old UH-1 choppers done when the Jesus Nut failed, Praying to Jesus. Just before it happened he was avoiding another vehicle by slamming on the brakes.

    Numb Thanks this.

Well you keep thinking that way and we'll all have a drink at your wake. A rack is good for most things. This is a massive failure and no factory rack is gonna save you. Tie it down right. DON'T tailgate. Stay way out in front of your position. See what is developing and you are going to be safer than the finest rack you can buy.

A lot of wise words of wisdom. I will keep this all in mind. I have also been checking my load. I can't think of making a stupid mistake like not checking my load. My sure everything is right.

all a "good" rack is going to do is become the blade of the 40K + bulldozer that relocates your cab.

If a rack could stop the load, you wouldn't have the available weight to haul the load.
