Also i need to have a tech scope for modulation and dead key/swing am and sideband i want a reliable raido that will last along time. i am long time cobra uniden owner never had a problem with that brand in all my cb history but the export models are dual finals higher swing. Never used a amp before so this is new to me. Dont want to let out the magic smoke this wiil be in a moble so i will be upgrading my altenator and the big 3 power wire upgrade to my vehicle. Can you tell me what needs to be adjusted in the raido and amp i am unsure where to have this work done any reliable techs out there to have my raido/amp tuned up? thank you dan your answers are greatly appreciated

I would use the Cobra 148 GTL, and leave it in stock form, pair it to your Texas Star DX500 and let it eat. There's no need to mess with the internals on this radio. A DX500 has 4 transistors (pills if you will) an it will accept the 148 as is.

I'll just discretely note for posterity: It's Radio, not Raido.

I've got dual final Galaxy and Connex radios, but if I had the 148, I would use that, especially if SSB is in play, not to mention the receiver portion is better than the exports. I have a Texas Star that was a 667 but the pre amp was removed and it is now considered a 500. The dual final radio will drive your 500 harder, but not enough to make a difference except on the meter. Hard to beat the 148.
