I don't know about the local lawyer thing. But i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that both interstate and roadlaw both have local lawyers in their services. I can't see any of them driving too far for a court.

Texas is probably one of the easiest states to pay a lawyer to avoid points from a speeding ticket. I got busted in Houston in Aug last year. Paid Lawyer $200 and ticket was dismissed. I heard there are lawyers who do it for much less.

I googled traffic attorneys in Houston. 2 phone calls and everything was taken care of.

Ticket was for an underinflated tire that was found during in an inspection. Put me OOS so I'm pretty sure I am getting all the csa/psp points I have coming.

From searches on here I saw recommendations to call a local lawyer, one that is a regular in that court and knows clerk and judge etc.

Thing is I don't know who that would be for Winnie hence me starting this thread to ask.

Yes. California did the same thing for me. Low tire. And csa points. $300 ticket i beleive was the fine.

You're wasting your time on a lawyer though. They don't get your fines reduced. Only your citations changed to something that won't reflect on your mvr. You still pay the fine. And they can't do anything for your PSP or CSA.

Just pay the ticket and don't even worry about a lawyer. Flat tires don't effect your MVR.

The psp points are what I am trying to avoid, don't want to pay much more than your CA ticket though.

If the ticket is considerably less than the lawyer then I may just pay the ticket and chalk it up as the cost of doing business.

the ticket will be less then the lawyer because your not paying the lawyer. the ticket will still be the same fine. all your doing is adding the cost of the lawyer. so save the lawyer and just pay the ticket.

As for fighting your dataq. good luck. You could just be wasting your money on that also. If you have satellite radio. Listen to the road dog channel. One day a week a show called landline now has 2 lawyers on the show. It might be once a month. Been a long time since i listened to that channel. All they talk about is tickets and csa.

Someone else might come along and chime in. ON your psp. Post your question in the lawyers forum on this sight. And see what responses you get. But most times, fighting dataq is worthless. I disputed one once. The item got removed but something else was added in it's place. It's over 3 years now so it's meaningless anymore.

Thats essentially what I did. I called several local Houston lawyers until I spoke to one who spoke the magic words,.. "I personally know the inside people who can handle this".

In hindsight,.. I later learned that Houston traffic cases are so over booked,.. that they eagerly dismiss traffic cases for those who hire lawyers.

How true that would be for Winnie,.. I cant tell you. I'm a Fla boy. All I can say is that this is not my first speeding ticket. And I have never once set foot in a court room and my DMV record for the last 20 yrs is spotless.

If you can find someone who sounds confident,.. I would definitely pay them to deal with this for you.

    Thats not true.

When a case is dismissed,. there are no fines.

    Just saying.
