I have not been on very much as the new job keeps me kinda busy :p
I am enjoying pulling a Super Bee all up and down the I-15 corridor and all over Canada.
My first month I did just over 11,000 miles and with a week and a half to go I am over 8000 for this month already. Bad weather and some truck issues slowed me down a bit.
I started out in a old International and when it broke I got another one. The tranny went on the second one. They put me in a Western Star with Barely 300,000 on it. After dispatch screwed up three border crossings in a row They said I could keep it for my troubles. I have ridden in a lot of different trucks and this one is by far my Favorite!
No one wanted to drive it because with the full sized bed there is not much storage. Who cares I am only in it Mon-Fri as I get all my weekends at home and 12 paid holidays a year "Both Canadian and US". I have not run with anyone in the company yet that I could not keep up with and quite literally leave them at the Altar on the hills with it.
For a Rookie I am very happy to start at .44 a mile.
Loading is easy as someone does it for you.
Unloading is just turning a crank ;p
If you think backing a Reg trailer is hard try to figure out a Super Bee! I can do it now but since everything is backwards of what you would normally do I still have to think about it. A regular trailer was always a piece of cake.
I have driven in a lot of bad weather and crappy roads so far and have done fine. I may be slow but I get there. I do not want to be the guy in the ditch as that seems to be a even slower way to get there.
I get to play by US and Canadian Rules depending on where I am. Gotta be careful with re sets if you need one as they will burn you if you take 34 hrs in Canada it is 36.
I have learned a lot so far and I can see that much like the Flying trucker job I did for the last thirty years when I stop learning it will be time to walk away from it before someone gets hurt.
So if you see a Canadian Hopper truck coming at you with a SPECTRE Lic Plate in the window give me a shout on the radio.

Thanks again for everyone that had me pointed in the right direction!

    A very happy FNG!

Glad it's working out for you. It's nice to read about a new guy that's actually happy with his job.
