I’m Gen X as I live and breathe (born in 1977) but I’m sure as h e l l ain’t lazy. A lot in my generation had to figure things out on their own as “free range parenting” was the norm. There were vast changes from the 1970s to the 1990s.
That’s clearly exemplifies a significant problem in society

I was very lucky to have such parents raising me and brothers. In my particular situation,my parents weren’t married when they had me. With one brother it was same father different mother and the other brother vice versa, with me smack dab in the middle, being the youngest.
Others in my generation, not so much.
They were in single parent households,or in orphanages/group homes, being wards of the state. -

In the last 25 years i’ve seen lots of kids come in to ask for a job app and sit down in the waiting room and have the parent or girlfriend that came in with them fill it out for them.

Seems hit or miss. For ever decent Gen Z kid we get we have to go through 2 or 3 duds.
This is a Millennial talking too, not a Boomer.
