That’s it. I give up. LED Headlights, Fog Lights and light bars?

    That is nothing new.
The Hella E-Code quartz iodine headlights I have used back in the 80's were the same way. A very defined light pattern.

There were basically two patterns to choose from.
    ............/
_____/ where it was flat and then angled up at the right to illuminate the side.

    The other was
    ..............______
______/ where the increased right side angle leveled off.

The former was illegal, while the latter was the legal version.
(Sorry about all the dots, but the forum seems to strip out all the spaces.)

You don't need LED's for that, only engineers that know how to create a decent lens.

    Hammer166 and SteerTire Thank this.

I saw justice served on a set of quartz on bright just this Monday. ;) Guy was blinding the hell out of everybody. Right up until he parked those lights underneath a Ford Explorer.

All that light. And he still didn’t see that traffic had stopped in front of him.

All the light in the world can not make a stupid person bright.

Put me a set of them in my under the bumper fog lamps back in 1957. Running WI to Miami, FL with big spotted cows. something to cut the FL fog.
Worked good on fog, but a little to much for an AL state trooper on US 231 SE of Montgomery one night..
Realized they did too good a job as passing lights, so removed and went back to amber.
Was told in late 58 that THE MAN on Whitewater scales would let you take the beams out right there or would walk around and bust them with his gun butt. Odd times, old days.

Exactly! The problem lights are either very cheap designs or the LED and HID bulb replacements.

The problem with the replacements is that reflectors are very sensitive to light source characteristics. There's no way to even get an LED to fit in the same physical space as a halogen element. And while you could manage to place the arc of an HID in the proper place, the arc and element are bright in different places of the light source, one in the center, the other on the ends.

Those minor changes cause the ridiculous amount of glare and scatter and give true high performance lighting a bum rap.

I'm at Boomtown today and tomorrow. Just had my first opportunity to try their Saturday night all you can eat lobster buffet. Not bad.
