I'm looking at going O/O and i have a good idea about most of what i need to find out, but there is one thing i can't seem to find, common problems with different trucks /engines. Let me explain, you talk with Joe Supertrucker at the truck stop and they mention that freightnational (just pick any truck brand here ) are known for bad turbos or oil leakage, whatever it may be. I'm trying to find out whee i can find out those issues that trucks are known for by year. I know that most tricks in the first year of new emissions (egr, dpf, def) are probably going to be faulty.
I'm just trying to find out what i can expect if i go for a used truck, that way i can choose the best option, rather than buy a brand name.
Thanks in advance!
That's a common problem in (insert truck brand here)

The issues aren't confined to a truck brand. Freightliner doesn't have turbo issues because they don't make em. Cummins doesn't have issues with front end alignment because that isn't their game. Any truck will have some problems somewhere along the line

Just Google any truck you are thinking of buying and engine for that matter with year for example 2009 Freightliner Columbia Cummins isx problems. You'll find enough on every truck to make you think twice.

Kenworth T800's were kind of known for the fenders on the hood wearing into the stationary quarter fenders. Those quarter fenders were also prone to cracking over time since there's only a couple small bolts holding them to the cab.
I can't remember which years but I think it was around '04/'05 that Kenworth had frame rails crack because they notched out the lower frame rail flanges to make room for the airbag fittings on one of the suspensions they offered.
Kenworth's AG200 suspension is junk, the AG400 is a better option.
Not a super common thing but I have noticed the pre-Acert Cats would have rocker arm failures. 12.7 liter Series 60's would burn through jake solenoids with heavy use every 3k-5k hours.Pure.Genius Thanks this. -
The list is endless. The OP would be better off asking which engine has the FEWEST issues (i.e. if you were Mad Max which engine would you choose to get you through hell)?
My vote: 3406bPure.Genius Thanks this.
