Tired of watching steering wheel holders making more money than me.

Van rates for August now highest of all time.

You're turning your flatbed back into who? Where?

It's just a rental trailer. No big deal

Van rates are at an all time high because of the demand that was caused from the virus but, those rates will decrease back to normal. Flatbed rates are actually higher than van rates, your just not looking in the right spots.

Any rise in van rates is likely to be a fad. Gone with the wind before you know it.

Only reason for flatbeds are for drivers that can’t afford a real trailer.

All kidding aside .... this is called business. Sometimes different sectors pull more $ than other sectors. What are you going to do when it flips the other direction ???

Just my opinion, usually doesn’t amount to much, but if it were me I wouldn’t switch. Keep doing what you’re doing, take the time to build solid relationships with a few brokers that can keep you moving for decent money. If you switch trailers just to chase money then this time next year when the rates flip the other way you will be in the same position, wanting to switch trailers and start over again with the flatbed.

I can understand your frustration. I feel it to reading some threads on here. There are times I want to go pull a different trailer and chase that money when I see what guys are doing on the spot market, but then things change and I’m doing better than they are with the contract stuff we haul. Just have to take the ups and downs, can’t chase the ups all the time.

Don't do it. Stay where you are. Us steering wheel holding van drivers are barely making it. Heck, my wife had to get a 3rd job. Couldn't afford shoes for the kids so I've got the whole family in flip flops and track suits from Walmart. Eating Ramen.

I picked up a gig doing phone sex that I can do while I ride down the road.....you know since I'm just a steering wheel holder and don't actually do anything.
