I am leasing with ACT in liberty and I am liking it quite well. I make about $800-1300 a week on most weeks and have been treated well here.

I work for Swift. I POURED over this forum and subforums for months, reading Everything I could about Swift, Schneider, Roehl, CRE, etc. I decided to go with Swift and I was quite nervous after reading so much negativity on here...
However, from Day 1 to now being 3 months solo, I've had a great experience with very little of the negative crap I've read come to life. Training was good, my mentor was awesome and my DM is great.
Was I just overall lucky? Maybe. I've experienced some things I didn't like... had a truck breakdown after 2 days solo, had a couple days with no loads avail, dealt with some Swift office folks that were curt and didn't seem to care. But I realize these things happen, I let it roll off.
But after being at some terminals and TS's, I can understand that some drivers are indeed unfortunately victims of bad support (DMs or whatnot). Then there are others that just might be smart enough to type and being the bitter, pissed off trucker we've all seen make an ### of himself gets on here and rants about how he's been wronged by a Satanic company.
Having a positive attitude and being pleasant / polite has done very well for me so far, doing this will likely surprise some shippers and destination workers (I've even had several tell me).
The entitlement attitude combined with bad people skills and / or stupidity is what I think brews alot of what's read in this section... -
Well no matter what company cover your rear they dont vouch much for anyone but themselves they can always get new drivers and keep you from retiring

I started out with CRE and i got my license and stuck through all the horsecrap they threw at me and then some anyone who has worked with them or know/knew anybody who does or did will understand what i mean. as a new driver though and someone who was married to a driver and the daughter of one ive gotta tell you everybody starts at the bottom of the rung and has to sling all the !@#$ that is shoveled to them. its initiation and driving is a hard job and a hard lifestyle to have. I love it and will keep doing it for awhile but even after all the stuff ive been through driving has shown me and taught me so many cool and interesting things and ive met some awesome ppl. I will admit that CRE is one of the worst companys to work for and if i wrote a list it would take 2 pages maybe more. if you are gonna learn to drive you will have to start with the crap companies which are most of the big ones because unless you know somebody in the small companies the big ones are the ones you will have to work for so cut your teeth stay for a respectable amount of time then quit upgrade to a better company and just keep getting better. just like anything you want in life it takes a lot of work and as Tim McGraw says "how bad do you want it?" I cant say much on some of the other companies to work for but i can say with a certifiable amount of gumption Hell No to them. I leased a truck through them and only made 20 dollars a wk after everything was taken out. yes i said twenty a wk. now i know im new and could have been doing something wrong but my best friend has been driving for 15yrs and my ex husband drove for 5 and i was always asking them for help and did exactly what they say and still made no money. most of my beef is with the leasing program and the training program i cant say much for company other than they never want you to go home lol. but its hard to find a company thats amazing and all companies have their quirks its just the nature of the beast. i worked for werner for a mnth and they didnt seem so bad to work for but i had to quit for personal reasons at home is y i didnt stay for long.

thats cool and you are right if you want to do it do it and take what ppl say with a grain of salt because they are biased all truckers gossip about as much as desperate housewives lmao. its the nature of the beast and just let things roll off your back. its a high stress job as it is taking everything personally not good at all

I think all starter companies get lumped together. There are slight differences between them but it appears any company listed there are people happy vs people unhappy.
The thing about these starter companies that I am trying to find out is how they handle training once your out with a trainer.
I have been trying to find a company that once you are out with a trainer the truck is run as a solo truck. No running teams or running super solo or something like that.
Just trainer sits there and the trainee drives for the whole time during training.
Now maybe this is asking to much and no companies do this and that's fine I am just trying to find out if there are any out there. -
