I koboshed Roehl for short trips also, not just the per diem thing. I suppose that this not enough to put them in the top seven I suppose---but many complained about being charged for the per diem.
I believe JB Hunt did not make the top seven for the following reason: JB Hunt, as far as I know the current time of this typing, does not accept recent graduates. There is a JB Hunt recruiter two miles from my residence and whom I cannot get the Intermodal Job he offers on craigslist.org because I do not have six months experience.
I concur that SSN will not be there when and if I make 65. If it is, the monthly check will be barely enough to get a loaf of bread if this stupid 'THE BERNANK' keeps printing money out of thin air like confetti shot out of canons at the Superbowl.

This last link kinda waves the Ron Paul pom poms, so you can cut it off at about 3 minutes and 30 seconds. I agree with some of what Ron says but I am not a devout follower.

This is what my husband would prefer. He's only been doing this for 7 months. As a new truckywify, what is a Dollar General account?
-
It is a contract with a certain carrier to deliver goods to the dollar general stores.
-
Take it for what it's worth ... it came from the mouth of a Werner recruiter! -
I've spoken with several Swift drivers in Dollar General accounts in different areas. Also a USX driver who was on a DG account in Ohio. They all say it is more money, but you work hard for it.
I wouldn't advise it for a newbie just starting out. Get 3-6 months OTR under your belt first, then decide if you want to take on extra work. Trucking is hard work. Most newbies don't realize just how hard- I sure didn't.Nottoway Thanks this. -
If you are able and wish to, please provide what dollar amount of tools and years experience are required to be a truck mechanic at a company that can be google searched. Thank You.

Nottoway Thanks this.

Intermodal isnt your average trucking job either. you have to know what to do. One mistake and you may be kicked out for life from a railroad yard.

I didn't say that the dollar general account was bad. Just that it is a lot of work and most don't realize how much and are not prepared for it or want that much.

I've been on the Dollar General account for 6 years with USX. I run out of the Maroin, IN DC. It's hard work but if you give yourself a couple weeks to toughen up to it you can make good money. The carts (they're called "rolltainers") can weigh upwards of a thousand pounds if they're full of detergent, bottled water, etc but most of them are less than that. There are also loose boxes on top of the rolltainers that you have to handle but they're not heavy. The average weight of a load is around 40,000. My loads are usually 300-500 mile round trips. I unload 5 trailers a week. I get home Saturday afternoon and leave around noon on Monday. I don't know what other carriers pay on the account but if I gross under 1200 it was a slow week. I recommend it for anyone who wants the biggest paycheck and best home time available with the carriers that hire newbies.
Nottoway and CastingMyFateToTheWind Thank this.
