    Some info.

    Rand Homepage

Swipe to the left, any icon you wish to move, drag to the upper left and you should get a "x", drop it there.

Click on the nine squares (upper right), this takes you to your apps. Long press on an app and you will see it move to the screen you were just on. Drop it there if you wish it be on the left swipe from the home page. Two pages are shown, but you can add more by adding apps.

On the Apps page is a cog called settings. Click on this.

Wi-Fi - how you will connect to your Hotspot. Upper right is 3 dots, this is extra options and advance.

Bluetooth - connect to Bluetooth devices such as a speaker or headset.

Data usage - Shows the data usage graph and what is running/how much is being used.

Display - Allows you to set sleep mode, brightness, wallpaper, font, etc.

Battery - Shows what is being used for battery drain and a nice graph to show amount of battery.

Location - You can turn on Google Location Reporting if you wish to be seen on Google + for example. You will need to be logged in. One note on ‘Location’. That also controls how you allow android to access your location on the tablet. SO, if you set it to Wifi Only (“Battery Saving”) mode, it won’t ever use GPS hardware (and Truck GPS app is basically useless).

Security - allows you to set different security options on the device. If you do, and you forget, RM will not know, A complete OS flash will have to be done to allow access again.

Language & input - see right side for options.

Add account - allows you to add Google and other accounts.

Date & Time - The tablet is defaulted to CST. To change - right side click off Automatic Time Zone, Tap on Select time zone, select your time zone, then click on Automatic Time Zone again. The tablet should show the time zone you wish.

Accessibility - Options on the right.

Printing - You can go to Play store and download Cloud Print.

    Hope this helps.

i highly doubt you'll be to root the device.

root is done by developers on more commonly used devices. a rand mcnally tablet is probably not on their list of faves.

i have a 7 inch tablet that was on sale at radioshack 2 years back. no root available for it.

Only issues I've had so far is I blacked screen out and when I got closer to exit turned it back on and it still thought I was 30 miles back. Tried to recalculate but wouldn't update so had to turn off and back on to get it to find me again. Must have went into some sort of sleep mode. Other than that the wifi connection doesn't seem to have as much range as my phone does, and the glossy screen really picks up your finger prints. Oh also dash cam is on top right corner I drive a new mack with split windshield so I had to put on passenger side so I could take video without strip in the way. Wish the camera would have been on top left. Those are my only complaint so far. I put a quick little dash cam video on YouTube for those wanting to see the quality, the audio was turned off and I believe you will see camera focus twice throughout 4 minute video I think it was trying to focus on overpass once then refocused on road. Should be able to find it by searching "rand mcnally tablet dash cam"

Tapping the power button momentarily puts the unit in a Stand-By mode. GPS and counters do not run. If you tap the power button again to turn on the screen, once it acquires GPS it will place you correctly. RM is looking at this.

I have my table all over the house with no issues. I suggest you download the app Wi-Fi Analyzer and see what the signal strength is on the tablet and move your phone various distances to see if indeed the signal drops. Very useful app.

Did you put a screen protector on it? IF not use a micro cloth and eyeglass cleaner to clean the screen.

I forwarded the Cam placement to RM.

It's simple. There are those who believe that Mr. Rutherford speaks with the knowledge of God and believe everything he says without question. Don't encourage them. 😜

I was really asking if anything negative has been mentioned on his show about the TND T80?

    Thanks,

    FYI

    http://www.randmcnally.com/images/randDocuments/support/TND_Tablet_User_Manual.pdf

As an PDF you can save this to your tablet or computer for future reference. If RM makes any changes to the manual you will not see them until you download the revised manual.

Note - If you are on your tablet, go to the Play Store and download the Adobe Reader by Adobe (free).

    http://www.randmcnally.com/support/category/tablets right side

Long press the TND Tablet User Manual, press "open", Adobe reader (always) if asked by what program. Then the manual will open up.

    Thanks,

Drag to the upper right and drop on the "x". Don't delete anything that has a RM or Rand in it. If not sure, ask. These are tied to apps to run the tablet.
