Hmm I'll have to see if my laptop has blue tooth capabilities. But i doubt it...its a cheaper business type laptop without too many bells and whistles.

Bought one second hand off Craigslist, like new in box May 7th., 2015 in Fife, Wa. Thread below;

I used the TND tablet on 4 runs across the US, the first run from Fife, Washington to Nantuck, Mass. Two weeks after I bought the TND tablet sometimes it would charge from the supplied power cords and sometimes it would not take a charge. It didn't matter if I plugged directly into the tablet itself or into the Splicer aka Magnetic block with the supplied USB cord or the plug in cigarette lighter adapter cord so I called the 800 number and spoke to a Rand technician and told him my issues. It's under warranty and the Rand tech said he would send me a RMA # to return the tablet and did, they paid for the shipping back to Rand and have kept me updated as to when it would be returned. I'm still on the road so it should be at the house before I get home friday. Bottom line is they are replacing the tablet with a Brand New tablet and took care of my issue even though I bought the tablet second hand. Rand also said to toss my Splicer aka magnetic block and the USB & Cigarette plug adapters as they were sending out new replacements with it.
Talk about Customer Service!
Ya'll can bash Rand all you want but it took me where I needed to go without a glitch except for the charging issue and Rand took care of the issues, prepaid the shipping and return shipping. If I experience any more issues or problems I'll post them here to inform others. This has been a great website. Keep on Trucking.... -
I've been using this tablet religiously as my gps. Overall I think it is decent, though as you all know they could have done a better job with the speaker as well as the gps sensor. My biggest annoyance with this product is the the lack of ram and underpowered processor.
This morning I turned it on fired up the gps and it kept crashing. I unfroze every app that was frozen and still nothing. Cleared the memory on the gps app nothing. So finally as a last result I uninstalled it. Common knowledge from previous devices told me that all preinstalled apps when deleted are still in the memory so a simple device reset would bring it back. After deleting rand mcnally popped up you have an update waiting. Hmm wonder what this is lol. It reinstalled truckGPS and guess what it works now. So some how the file had gotten corrupted.
Another annoyance is the "dash cam" it's located on the right side of the tablet. Most trucks have a bar down the middle of the windshield. Did they not think of this? In order to keep the GPS out of my way and not have a.hole dot officers #####, the bar blocks the camera.
Perhaps in their second release they could try releasing a product that has current specs not out dated specs and a camera like on the left side where it can be used.
Also it sounds like some of you have rooted yours. What software did you use to do this? I've tried a few and failed. I root all my devices for the simple fact that I hate half the crap apps that come pre installed by ### holes at the manufacturer that don't think. -
and you can't turn the tablet UPSIDE down. so the camera is now on the left side?????
i don't th ink anyone has root on the rand. not a popular item so it's not developed.
i could be wrong though. -
You can always uninstall any app you don't like or use, just like the pre-installed software on a computer.
RM is looking at the Cam.
As soon as you build a product which usually takes some time for design, testing, manufacturing, testing, and then release the specs will always be out of date. It is hard to put a product out that somehow the hardware/software is not improved before the product is released. To go back and update the hardware would add to the cost factor.
Thanks,
Mark -
only thing i can do with my pre installed phone software. is either update or uninstall updates.
and you can't uninstall preinstalled software on computers. it's not in the list. -
Humm, I uninstalled a lot of apps on my tablet and also on my phone.
I uninstall preinstalled software on my computer all the time. Each time I get a computer I clean those off that I do not want. Uninstall works great. -
I do not see where for the tablet is says to use the Dock.
Thanks,
Mark
